As per the thread tile. What are you working on over the winter?

What changes, if any, are you going to make to try and get to a lower handicap next year?

Better driving? Iron approach play? Chipping it closer? Less 3 putts, more 1 putts? Better course managment? More sand saves?

I'm spending the winter months having a further series of lessons to help me kick on for next season.

I want to work on a few things over the winter.

1. A better swing swing sequence in transition, starting the downswing.

I'm getting there on the back of my previous lessons, which has been evidenced in my scoring and subsequent handicap reductions over this season, but I still feel there is room for improvement in this area to make my swing more repeatable, more often.

2. A better mental approach.

I'm going to be reading a lot of doctor Bob (Rotella) over the winter to try and give myself the correct mental attitude to help when my swing fails me.

What about you?

Edit: This is a multiple choice poll.

ingrain my new putting technique. then work on some points my secret golf coach gave me with the added assistance of my pro. I need to work on hip movement basically as this is causing problems elsewhere. Time will be spent on the short game area, but in honesty from 80 yards in, i am quite happy right now and i think playing below handicap! its getting the damn ball to within 80 yards i am having issues!!

In response to the poll, i just voted on all of it! bar "nothing"!!

I just keep playing and practicing the exactly the same - less club matches and more competitions (qualifiers) and social (swindles) golf.

My winter work will be with chainsaws and axes. #firewood Golf-wise? Nothing.

I have already started my winter practice.
For the last 6 sessions I have taken 4 clubs,my 58,52,wedge ad 8 iron.
I have been working on my yardages, doing the clock drill with all the clubs.
Already I see progress as I had 4 birdies in the first 7 holes yesterday all down to yardage
control and good putting.
Will definitely be putting in some hard graft on the practice range over the coming months,
playing less when the course is frozen this winter.
Another thing I have been working on is weight transfer[mark crossfield vid from another thread]
as I tend to fall off shots now and again.
So lots to get on with.
Im also looking to get a stronger 3 wood with a smaller head.

I hadn't really planned anything but keep things ticking over. We still have qualifying comps throughout the winter.

But now that you've brought this up I feel guilty and think I should be doing something, so short-game it is.

Oh and I've now looked up this Dr Bob feller and may well buy some of his audio books to listen to.

For me it's getting off the tee. I've ditched the driver in favour of a 3 wood, which 6 times out of 10 I can get fairly well down towards the hole. The other four times I'm atrocious. I'm ok with the irons and chipping etc so i'll just keep myself going with them at the course once a week. But for the forseeable only my 3 wood is going to see the range and that'll be twice a week.

you can go off some people bladeplayer ;)

I voted for all except nothing & other. The only thing I intend to do less of is play comps, instead I am going to practice more on those days instead. Mostly irons and ball striking. short game is ok & putting is not too bad but irons and approach shots are killing me. fine off mats crap off turf, wish my club had a grass range, alas they are rare as hens teeth.

For me I'm moving clubb next couple weeks but over winter going to practice 100yards in and putting and odd driving session looking forward to next year already

Nothing that focused for me. I'll try and keep some sort of rythm by swinging a wedge in the living room and some putting at home too- when the weather gets too bad to play.

Been back at the gym for a couple of weeks. Next year I won't stop going when the golf season starts like I did this year.
