What Wedge degree and bounce do you use for bunker play

Looks like i am finally upgrading my 12 year old mizuno irons but have always used a sand wedge for bunkers but my new apex irons will not have one.

Had a go will a 60 degree and bounce 11 today which seemed to do the job but Pw to 60 seems a bit of a big gap.

Guessing your new PW will be about 45°, and your old one maybe 47 or 48.

45 to 60 is too big a gap really.

The lowest loft I'd want my SW to be is 54°, but I'd still want another club between those if it were my bag.

For bounce I'd say 10 minimum for a run of the mill SW, but I'm sure plenty of people play with less. My LW is 58-09 but plays as if the bounce were a lot less, and I hit bunker shots with it depending on the situation.

Mines a 54 not sure of the bounce. Open it up and jobs a gooden. Never tried a 60 but have got space for one more club. So may have a play about and see if I fancy it.

I use my "standard" SW (which is 55 I believe) but bought the additional LW (60) for when I'm in tight greenside bunkers or playing out of wet, compacted sand.
The combination seems to work okay.

For greenside bunkers a 60-04 Vokey.
Our bunkers have high faces and course sand so I don't need a lot of bounce.

If there's next to no lip or the ball needs to roll out, 52*\8* bounce, if it's a tight pin or high lip, 58*/tour grind

Pretty much what I have.

52° with 10° bounce and a 58° with 8° of bounce.

I have a 50 and 54....with as low bounce as possible as we get a lot of tight lies round the greens....and the bunkers don't have much sand in them....crazy here I know but it a complaint that most members make.

You would have thought sand would not be an issue here....

i always always use my 60 with 7 degrees bounce.
My bunker play since I got my new 60 about 5 months ago has been strongest part of my game by far. Get up and down much more than I should. I prefer to be in bunkers than I do chipping round the green

Depends on the shot.... but under all 'normal' conditions I go with my Cleveland 588 RTX 2.0 54* 10* bounce

I suppose it would depend on how deep the bunker faces are and what type of sand.

i play at a links course with deep reveted pot bunkers with soft sand and use a 56/13 its also good for full shots up to around 85/90.

we do have a couple of really deep bunkers that if you are in the middle to front its impossible to get out as you are on a down slope,so you need a bit more loft, say 60.

I got 2 ICY wedges 51* and 58* and I was struggling using the 58, that I went back to an old 55* wedge and saw a difference, so I rang Ian up and said grind me a 55* SW specifically for bunker play, he did and it's done the job. I got no idea what degree the bounce is either.

53 degree MP-T5 with 10 degrees of bounce for almost all bunker shots; the exception being if I need to get the ball up quickly to clear the lip or land the ball softly, in which case it's a 60 degree lob wedge (also MP-T5 with 10 degrees of bounce.)
