As per thread title.

What was the last thing in the wonderful world of golf that you tried and that really surprised you?

It can be good or bad.

It could be equipment, clothing, anything. From the different feel if a set of irons to the quality of a pair of shoes.

For me it's a very simple one. Full cord grips

Why have I not discovered full cord grips until now!! They feel absolutely fantastic when compared to velvets etc.

Spent the evening yesterday regripping all the irons, wedges and woods in my bag with these:

Full cord tour wraps, fitted logo down, with 3 layers of tape (1/32 oversize), look and feel absolutely fantastic

What about you? What have you tried recently that's surprised you in a good, or even a bad way?

Macwet gloves. Didn't think they would work but just let the gloves and grips get completely soaked and they grip just fine :)

Taylor Made Lethal golf balls. Distance was good and so was the spin but unfortunately the first one cracked half way through its second round. Went back to Titleist straight away. Shame because the first round with the Lethal I shot 2 under for the round.

messing around on flightscope in American golf hitting drivers. I'm putting over 4000 rpms of spin on the ball.

I am robbing myself of yards. It has raised a few alarm bells and I want to get this addressed before next season!

Brand new Bushnell V3 slope edition, drove 40 mile round trip to get it from a pro shop, didn't try it when there, got home put battery in and doesn't work, bought new battery....... Nothing. Note to self, check product before leaving.

Bent all my irons and wedges flatter on Thursday night.... All the irons have been bent 2 degrees flatter than standard... My 6 iron that has felt odd to me for most of the season had to come down a whole 5 degrees......

I bought 3 new Wilsonstaff FG Tour TC wedges a few weeks ago straight off the shelf..... From the go everything was out of the heel..... It even felt odd standing over these at address because I felt very upright and not at all comfortable......

These were all bent 3 degrees flat from standard and I now have centre contact and overall I have a much better and more comfortable posture at address right through the bag.....

I don't look like I'm reaching or off balance any more now at address which is a huge plus for me.... It's pretty much stopped my early extension and I feel more confident in that now I don't feel like I'm going to loose the ball left anymore....

Happy days.... I just need to get out on the course now...... Weather's mental over here..... Haven't hit a ball in over 3 weeks..... I'm gettin withdrawel sympthoms now.....

Callaway HX Diablo Tour golf balls. I bought some for last winter and was massively impressed but when I ran out I went back to the Premium stock. However, I found a sleeve the other day and was surprised all over again. Why Callaway stopped making them I will never know

New driver, fitted a couple of weeks ago. More the shaft really though, a Project X 6.0, something I never thought would have been matched to my swing, but the results since are night and day compared to my old regular flex K15. I feel so much more in control of the club, especially in the back swing. Big dog, woof woof.

Using alignment sticks on the range and realising just how far I aim from target compared to what I think I am aiming.

Slight adjustments made and hey presto hitting greens more than not!!

Firstly my Stuburt helium sport waterproof Jacket and bottoms that i paid £50 for the complete set. Played in a absolute downpour yesterday with high winds at times and kept me warm and dry and a bionic wet grip glove that preformed great as well.

I tried to resist last 2nd bargains on ebay and its worked wonderfully. I now have the same set of driver/woods/hybrids/wedges I had since march which for me is a record :D

So my submission to the Oxford Dictionary "Doing a Gibbo" is gonna fail...

Tried a Tom Watson tip when chipping out of long grass around the green, he said open the face a few degrees and then take your normal grip and stance. Chip as normal and it will go straight instead of left of where you are aiming. And blow me down , it jolly well worked.

Am I the only one who can't believe how clean this thread is ??

In the spirit of all previous answers, I've been deliberatly hitting a fade on a few tee shots recently and it's great to start a drive on the left of the fairway and know it's going to drift onto the short stuff. Sadly it's not a powa fade, so I lose about 30 yards...
