Hi guys I'm off to wentworth on Saturday it's my first golf tournament and I'm a bit unsure of what to wear would people recommend maybe wearing golf shoes ? Would jeans be acceptable? Probably sound really silly asking all these but last thing I'd want to do is look like a idiot on the day!
Thanks guys

Take a look at the forecast and dress accordingly Jeans are ok too. don't forget you will be walking and standing most of the day so you need to be comfortable. Oh and there will be a lot of people who will be wearing silly outfits they wont even notice you :)

Golf shoes...the forecast is wet and the ground will be slippery. Quite a few slopes and banks to negotiate round Wentworth. Pretty much any clothing is fine, I wear jeans and whatever is appropriate on my top half.

great day out, enjoy

I was just about to ask the same thing. Would jeans be acceptable in the hospitality tents?

Looking at the weather its probably best sticking to the waterproofs..

I'd imagine if you wore golf shoes you look a little bit "look at me everyone, I actually play golf too!" special! :)

Stick to trainers/shoes/walking shoe/trainer or boots and you'll be fine. Flip flops or Toms if its sunny ad your good to go. :)

I am off to the ProAm tomorrow. I went last year for the first time and what great value for money.

Weather looks good. Anyone else going?

Yep

Imurg CVG & myself are going tomorrow, dragging Father In Law along as he has a Beamer so we can park onsite :)
The park n Ride shuttle bus doesnt start till 7.30 so its borderline to see them tee off at 8 (bus at 6.30 on tournament days)

Ive worn golf shoes to Wentworth before, its a golf course, its what they are made for

But they'll be inside the ropes and will be more concerned about other things.:D

Comfort is the key nd that depends on the weather. 'Sunny Intervals' are forecast. Jeans are ok. Golf shoes aren't required - it's been great weather - but, if they are comfy, won't be out of place. If you have the new comfort style ones, they are probably perfect as they will be fine on paved areas too.

I think you'll find that the majority of the folk there will be wearing golf shoes, its the sensible option give more grip. Nothing special to it, that's like saying don't where your Footjoy rain jacket just wear a regular one cos your showing off that you play golf if you wear your footjoy.

Just wear whats comfortable for the day, while preparing for the weather of the day.

Wearing golf shoes to have more grip? Jeez, you're going to a golf tournament, not climbing the north face of the Eiger.

Good answer. Having been round the course today, it is dry underfoot and a comfortable pair of stout shoes is all that is needed. I would not suggest trainers as the grass is lush and with a shower of rain could become quite slippery on the slopes.

And flip-flops are not recommended! paths go through woods/rhododendrons and plenty of objects to snag on.
