I have been building up my set after buying a cheep set to see if i like the game of golf.
So I have got some irons that i am happy with (King Cobras) and just had them re-griped
then after a lesson or 2 i got a Callaway FT9 11* draw driver witch i love.
So irons and driver taken care of.
Then picked up my new putter last Saturday a Taylor Made Ghost Spider very nice if you like that sort of putter.
So went out for a round down Littlestone Lynx Course and played my best round ever and if i had had not of 3 putted 10 holes i may of broke 100
BUT i have 2 hibrids which i am not sure if they are right for me.
I had nothing between my driver and my 5 iron
So do i get some new hibirds to fill the gap or get 3 5 and 7 woods and if so what is good for a 19 ish handy cap

many thanks mick

Get a putting lesson, not some new clubs. Learn how to 2 putt and you will be 10 shots better off, no hybrids will cut your score by that many shots. Then take a golf lesson for your swing and that will take another 5 shots off your score after some practice and all for the price of a cheap hybrid.

Yes an excellent point and thinking about it the way that i shall go but i will still need some thing to fill the gap in my bag as smashing the hell out of my 5 iron instead of a more controlled swing with another club would be more enjoyable for me.

Go and try hybrids and fairway woods. See what you like.

5 iron to driver is way too big a gap for anyone.

Agreed that the gap between 5 iron and driver is too big for sure, a 3 wood would probably be a good addition to your bag although I'd highly recommend, like SharkAttack, get a short game and putting lesson, I think that will help shave shots more than having a wood or hybrid in the bag.

If the cash is burning a club shaped hole in your pocket then I don't see any reason why you can't go out and pick up a 3 wood and a 23 degree hybrid.

I initially went 4W and 3h to fill a similar gap. Then I got a 4h and now have it pretty well covered.

Others might go 3W, 5W & 4h if funds allow.

At your level i agree with what the members are saying, you dont need new clubs right now.
A good Hybrid or Wood will eventually get you to even lower scores, but for right now concentrate alot on your short game, 100 yards and In, and your putting
I think if you work on that awhile you will easily break 100,

I have a Mizuno MP titanium 4 Wood and it's just class. Easy to hit from tee or fairway and it looks pretty good too
