What swing do PGA Pros teach?

So the PGA course teaches "how to teach", not "teach this swing"?

I'd imagine so (although no first hand experience).

Got a fair few football coaching badges and the courses to obtain the qualifications are more giving you the tools to be able to coach and improve players/teams rather than engraining a particular set of drills to do each time.

Lets you apply the methods you've learnt in different situations and to differing ability levels.

Me too (only level 2, currently coaching my lad's U18 team).

Fair play to you. I was coaching a "junior" team in Scotland (Junior in terms of semi-pro not kids, different set up in God's country).

I did the badges when I was having my knees rebuilt (cruciate ligaments in both knees). Quite enjoyed the coaching but didn't get enough out of it compared to playing to carry on.

Would never, never coach my kids team though, can't be easy.

I could never understand that term! Agree about the playing and coaching - two completely different things altogether.

Due to the set up in Scotland where there is no pyramid as such so there are the Highland League, Seniors and Juniors all, to an extent, self-contained. Although Junior teams have played in the Scottish Cup the last couple of years.

Nothing beats playing, you're right. I had to give it up and am still pretty gutted about it a year and a half down the line.

Holy cow! Sorry to hear that. Does that not affect your golf?

Sorry for taking this thread so far off in a tangent.

In short, yes, hence the investment in a trolley to try and make things easier. Got replacement ligaments from stripping my hamstrings and patella tendons down, out of 8 ligaments in my knees 7 have been replaced!

However, playing golf with my knees like this won't end up in knee replacements by the time I'm 36/37 which is what I was looking at with the football.

It's part of the midlife crisis, mate. Getting older and realising you're too slow/injured to carry on (slow in my case) is difficult to swallow at first, but the psychological pain eases with time! I still want to be a tour pro golfer. I know it won't happen, but it gives me something to get out of bed for!

Most pro's seem to teach whatever it is that they are either currently interested in, or working on their own game. Its understandable as thats what has their enthusiasm and attention, but its usually not the best for their pupils.
