The new owners at my club are now allowing hard spikes, one of the only clubs in the area to do so .Are there any benefits to changing or is this just personal preference ?
Metal spikes rock! Plastic cleats or whatever they are called have less grip and get clogged up very quickly if the ground is wet and are difficult to clean with a pitchmark repairer etc.
I have only once fallen down a slope on a golf course and that was wearing soft spikes.
Golfer2112,
thanks for your comment, shame that you was not a bit earlier with your post. This morning / pouring rain/ 6th tee /walked up the sleeper built steps, driver in one hand ,ball in the other , slipped @rse over elbow...think i'll try the spikes
I hate the grating noise they make on tarmac - it used to set my teeth on edge. Soft spikes a lot lighter though I think they may have made the shoes better too.
