What speed do you swing a 6 iron?

If anyone has had a fitting at Mizuno or AG they do the swing thing with a 6 iron head which tells them speed, tempo etc
anyone done it? just curious to see swing speed variations as I have a very slow tempo.....apparently

I went to Ping recently and was measured at 115mph for a 7 iron. Seemed very high to me. The spin rate was over 7000 rpm which was (apparantly) too high.

Not sure I completely understand the corelation between the two but the theory is a too high spin rate will result in the ball 'dropping out of the sky'.

My numbers were

Headspeed - 84mph
Tempo - 4
Toe Down - 2
Kick Angle - 4
Release Factor - 4

Head Speed - rather obvious, maximum head speed value during the swing.

Tempo - This measures what kind of transition you have on a scale of 1 to 9 (one being the smoothest and nine being the quickest).

Toe Down - As it sounds, this is how much the shaft bends down towards the ground during the swing

Kick Angle - The amount the shaft bends forward (towards the target).

Release Factor - When in the swing the shaft itself actually released the head. For a couple of extreme examples, think of Sergio Garcia and David Toms. Sergio releases VERY late, and thus needs a firmer tipped shaft. Toms releases earlier, and so he can use a softer tip to deliver more power to the ball.

your driver speed would be around 135mph in that case

115mph club speed for a 7i is stratospherically high!! This club speed is tasty for a driver...!

Spin rate of 7000 for a 7i is ok.

gotta say aswell that sounds extremely high.

mines was 88mph at mizuno a couple years ago, no idea what it is just now

86 mph, and about 102 with a driver.

I'm on those numbers too. Do you pay with regular shafts or stiff?

Stiff. Unless your tempo is very smooth, most similar players would be suggested stiff by the Mizuno swing optimiser.

On the woods, what constitutes 'stiff' is very variable between different shaft brands, so I could be X stiff in some, and just creep into stiff in others, but there would be very few brands which recommend regular.
