What sorts of things do you buy online?

I'm trying to do a bit of research for things that people buy on-line to save themselves a bit of cash. For by the usual stuff like

 • Phone cases
 • data cable
 • screen protectors
 • memory cards

I'm trying to see if there's other niche markets that could be less of a race to the bottom on quality and pricing. Most searched for things on eBay throws up some really odd results but worthy of investigation, however, there's nothing like raw data coming from folk who actually spend on-line.

Consumer Electronics market is totally saturated on eBay but there's no point in buying in 200 pairs of Simpsons boxer shorts if no one wants them lol. I use that as a poor example of course.

Cheers.

It'll be easier for me to list the things I DONT buy online:

My weekly grocery shop
Stuff from a £1 store
The occasional item of clothing

Basically everything else is done online as I don't like going shopping.

On line I mostly buy friendship and 200 pairs of Simpsons boxer shorts. Ay Caramba.

I generally stick to boxed/packaged products such as garden equipment, computer stuff, games, electronics, furniture and the like. Don't generally buy clothing unless I've seen the same product in a shop and know the feel/look and can trust the sizes etc. The biggest frustration with online shopping (any shopping really) is returning goods. Also, I only buy online if there is a significant saving. Mostly I'd be happy to pay a bit extra to get from a local shop there and then.

Like others have said, I buy pretty much everything online except my weekly food shop. I do not work in a town centre and can think of nothing worse that traipsing round shops at the weekend (plus that eats into my golf time) and so everything comes from tinternet. I buy so much of my stuff off Amazon that I even have a Prime subscription to get most of it next day.
As I have never seen shopping as a fun activity or a day out in the same way that my wife does it is online all the way for me.

Anything and everything off anybody, (check feedback although not 100% guaranteed ) except groceries. Prefer to go down to the local youth club (ALDI AND ASDA).

Re telephone shopping, if anyone rings me Nothing. I don't do cold calling in anyway shape or form.
in fact now I am retired I play a game where I can keep someone on the phone as long as possible before they hang up.
my record is 1 min 48 seconds with Rashid.

Is it just all cost driven? Does authenticity matter? i.e. happy to use 3rd party stuff as long as it works?

I'm a buy cheap buy twice type person but not everyone else thinks that way.

Cost is usually the last consideration. It is all convenience and the hatred of actually going shopping. Actually, choice comes into it as well. High Streets have become so harmogenised that finding something a bit different or non mainstream is almost impossible.

I find that too. It's also just as bad visiting other cities too when all the same shops have moved in and nothing is unique anymore, unless you go to Edinburgh and it's all wee old shops :)

Hate shopping also, so buy most things online. My wife is the same now and even our grcery shop is done online. Like the ability to quickly research or check reviews on a product which you have stumbled upon.

I buy most stuff online except for clothing.. I'm not a standard size so I prefer to try stuff on first.. I'm currently replacing some of my old vinyl with new vinyl.. All sourced online and a 100% success rate so far...

I buy everything online (or click & collect) apart from food and non-golf clothing i.e stuff I want to try on to check sizes. although I may then order them online in the future once I know which size from which brand fits.

What I'm planning to do is to buy in stock and sell it on eBay. Sourcing it in China and importing it. Going to start small with small popular items, because I think if you get items out fast to folk at the right rates people will trust it. Mostly guitar stuff at first, like strings and things. A few others are doing it obviously but my mates say that if they could buy direct from my eBay shop they'd rather do that and trust it came in 2 days rather than 2 weeks. Seems pretty straight forward to do.
