I'm going to America next week, and I'm going to take advantage an buy a pair of Ecco biom hybrids as they're much cheaper.

Are these okay in the winter or should I be looking to buy something different?

I got exactly the same pair recently and I intend to wear them in the winter. As with most golf shoes, they will only be waterproof up to a certain level, and if you will be playing several times a week in all sorts of weather including heavy rain and wading through standing water then those winter boot type ones are probably the best bet. Or get some of those waterproof socks people go on about.

But for 'normal' winter rounds I expect they will be fine. And they are damn comfy.

I used my Biom Hybrids on and off last winter and it's ruined them.
Ingrained dirt that is hard to remove and the leather was just too wet too often and creased quite badly.

The leather is just too soft for winter use IMO. You might be OK on links but anywhere else I'd forget it. I also found myself slipping with them being a hybrid.

Absolute quality shoe but not for winter use.

i usually have 4 or 5 pairs on the go though the summer and the oldest ones getting towards the end of their life get metal spikes put in and left at the club, then chucked when the weather gets better in spring. this year its the turn of my Ecco Tour Hydromax. 5/6 years old now and just started to split on the side .

Nike TW shoes.

Really comfortable and made out of some synthetic stuff so totally waterproof. Make your feet really hot so not so great in summer.

Wipe clean with a baby wipe and job done.

These are supposed to be great in bad weather. I'd also suggest True Linkswear - easily available in USA but less so here. They are the most waterproof shoes I've ever had.

I got some cheap black Nikes a couple of years ago and wear them over winter - comfy & waterproof (I don't really care what they look like in winter).

Adidas Adizero Tour so that I can rip up the greens

Also have a pair of Adidas Pure 360 - lovely and comfy

And a pair of FJ DNA's ( overpriced and over hyped and not that comfy )

Ecco Goretex (2 pairs) that I've had for many years and still perform magnificently.

Occasionally, Footjoy Icons or Classics (bought for a fiver each and semi-refurbed)

Tend to just use the darker coloured myjoys (black or blue) and anything with too much white gets left alone unless we get a very dry spell. Mind you with the flooding we had last winter that never happened

Now I've moved to a heathland course I'll only use my AQL's when playing away at parkland course, if its overly wet at home I'll wear my Nike Lunar Control ll's otherwise I'll wear my Adicross Gripmore's that have a 2yr waterproof warranty and are soooo comfy
