So with england getting smashed at the cricket, got me thinking.. What is your biggest sporting loss?

Mine was, circa 2006 when i was playing rugby. I was coming back from Injury and was playing for our 2nd team, we had an away game at Henley Vs their 4th team. Well, when we arrived we heard through the grapevine their 1st team game had been cancelled..

So 9 of the guys from their first team (in reality, about 8 tiers higher in league structure, IIRC Henley 1's were national 1 or 2, so in footy terms, "championship") fancied a run out....

Well, we were 0-3 up after 1 minute!! i kicked a penalty! I didn't end well.

We lost 119-3.

Who can beat that?

At schoolboy football level in the local cup we drew Barnet U18s, which was basically their academy side. We lost 19-0 and I had a blinder between the nets lol (I even got offered a trial)

When I used to play 5 a side a good few years ago (with a group of equally unfit potential alcoholics), we had a friendly arranged against a local 6th form college. We didn't know that numerous members of this particular college were members of a local Premier League Club Academy. It didn't start well, and then got much much worse. We lost count after a while, but I doubt that it was less than 30 goals...

We had a prestigious friendly one year against Steaua Bucharest - the full squad was over for pre season.

About 7 minutes in and my mate swings over a free kick which the keeper flapped at and missed by a mile. I snuck in round the back and nodded it into the corner to put us 1nil up.

83 minutes later having touched the ball about 6 further times as a team we walked off 9-1 down!! My fault for making them angry!!! :)

Surely you went for Next goal winner at the end.

No white boots in them days lad... Just pit boots, wi' nails int soles
I had a pair of Alan Ball white boots.:o Absolute rubbish, so went back to Puma Hatricks which occasionally lived up to their name.

First ever game I played at school, I passed back to the goalkeeper, who take a wild hack and let the ball roll into the net. These were the days when the keeper could pick the ball up from a backpass. Got a right rollocking from the games master as well.:( Wasn't you in goal was it Therod ?

As 13 year-olds from the local hooligan school, we were all bowled out for 7 runs by the kids from the local posh school in the only cricket match our school ever organised. Man we were woeful  :o

Doubt it rich. You may have been 1 or 2 years above me

Years ago, Fragger and me frequented a Youth Club in a nearby village.
We had quite a few cricketers so formed a team and played on the Village green.
We weren't bad - no really.....

Except this one day, and I was Captain, we played a 40 over a side match.
I lost the toss and we got put in.

We were all out..........for 8.
And 4 of them were Leg-Byes.
3 people scored.

I think they knocked them off in 3 or 4 balls.....

I wasn't Captain after that.........

I was captain of the school rugby team who lost by about 60 points......seemingly it was a new school record defeat.
That was in the days of 3 point tries and 2 point conversions/drops.
My excuse was that they were all much bigger than us!.
We were the posh school playing the mining town school who would much rather have been playing fitba.

My biggest loss was personal. I had a chipper - feel free to laugh and take the mickey - which I used to deadly effect, chipping in from off the green was a regular feature of my game. During a home seniors match I left it somewhere on the course. The only people on the course were our members and the opposing team. The chipper was never seen again. My short game is lamentable and I have tried many other chippers but am unable to perform with any of the replacements so don't even bother now. I have several which live in my garage.
