As above, what's the toughest course you've played?

Straight toss up for me between Carnoustie and Royal Lytham but Carnoustie for me I reckon.

Hillside beat me up, first few holes were OK but then it got to me, no get out of jail if you miss a fairway by even the smallest margin.

Another toss up between Royal Lytham and Southerness.
Not much margin for error on both, especially Lytham. Pretty much Every poor shot was punished, pretty severely at times.

I loved the way you had to plot around Lythan to avoid the bunkers. The bunkering there is probably the best I've see for catching players out. Mind you, there are plenty of them.

Centurion, i managed to tame its par 3s but the rest eluded me.

I don't fear Blackmoor anymore there after beating the home pairing many MANY moons ago. Would still rank it as the second hardest I have played.

Ive never seen a course so intimidating off the tee with the amount bunkers at RL. Deep Pots too, Horrible things.

Not so bad when you walk the fairways and you can see the gaps between them but off the tee its certainly scary stuff!

Have to say I'm surprised by those 2 choices, 2 courses I play very well around and have won competitions at.

Birkdale in the wind and rain! 31 pts and I played really well. Soaked to the skin and felt totally knackered when I dragged myself off the 18th.

I have not played a huge range of courses but those two always rank highly for me.

It will be hard though, I have great memories from both.

Fulford in a crosswind. Its an out and back course, like many links courses, but if you're offline its trees.

After that, it would be the Hotchkin off the blacks, again on a windy day. 36 hole scratch comp, with almost half the fairways unreachable because of the wind.

Another I've struggled with a number of times is Birchwood near Warrington. Most of the greens are set at 45* to the tee. Great once you've played there a number of times and are comfortable with the yardages, but its tortured me every time I've played it.

Royal Ashdown ,heather and then even more heather and if that wasnt enough there was a lot of heather , did i mention the heather?
i cant remember so i will say it again ,heather ,and bloody lots of it.
i dont think i played it very well .:o

Turnberry "off the tips". They had a competition last year which was off the tiger tees, and all the pins were in the same spots as the Sunday, the last time the open was played there. So, the course was playing as set up for the pros.

Some very large carries, and so hard to see your ball, so lost many of them.

Off normal tees? Possibly castle stuart - the fairways are quite wide, but in and around the greens are so hard.
