Because they are the rules. The rest of the field has been playing to those same rules so they can't change them just because it's the final group. Would you say the same if one of them had been let off for touching the sand in a bunker during his backswing and hadn't had a penalty applied because it was drama and entertainment? Or is it just certain rules that you want them to ignore?

They were nowhere near being put on the clock. They were asked to pick up the pace because they were behind, which they did. so no story here really
 
They were not playing slowly. I never saw the group behind them at all.
