What is greensome foursomes

Wikipedia test here:
Greensomes, also known as Scotch Foursomes, follows the same format as foursomes except that both players tee off on every hole. The better ball is chosen and alternate strokes are then played to complete the hole.

Is it right?

It's a tedious form of golf where you both hit a tee shot, choose the one you want to play & then play foursomes for the rest of the hole. Sometimes, depending on the ability of the two players, it may not be a good idea to play the best drive if the better player thinks he can hit the green from the poorest drive. Sometimes the rules specify that a certain minimum number of each player's dries must be used. I hate the format but you may enjoy it.

I quite like it and prefer it to foursomes. There are some tactics and thinking involved in what you play off the tee (e.g one safe drive and one risky one) then deciding how to play out the rest of the hole (e.g. who fancies the next shot, who has the best lie or line etc), which you don't get in foursomes.

Not really. You both drive, then alternate the rest of the hole.

ah ok, so the difference being that you don't choose the best of each shot its only the drive followed by alternating?

And to confuse you even more we play Canadian Greensomes, both drive, hit each others drive, then choose the ball your going to play. From there it's alternate shots.

i agree, i much prefer it to foursomes. Tactics are much more employable and its also more enjoyable.

Love it!

And Canadian Greensomes is even better. You both tee off, then you hit each other's ball, then you decide which ball to finish the hole with. They're good winter games - they get you out there and back in before hypothermia sets in.

I loved this format when I use to partner up with my dad. He was a low handicapper that could hit fairway after fairway. That then meant I could open my shoulders up on every tee and just rip at it without any worries.
