As the title says, what are you working on at the moment, if at all? For me it's still pitching chipping and bunkers. All are showing great signs of improvement but like my long game, which I'm only looking at once a week, I can't find a way to regularly transfer that to the course. That's something I'll sort. Interested to know, mid-season what other forum members are working on at the moment, why and how it's going

Getting a better tempo and allowing my wrists to turn over for full shots. Seems to be working, because my average score has come down from the low 90's to the low 80's, and I am almost hitting forum distances! Even my short game has improved! :)

I hook the ball, it's more about face than path. Working on taking the hands out or not over rescuing the club.

I had spent a few months ensuring I push the ball, I am now adding a little control back into that. The ball currently has a lot of shape but is currently finishing on the target line. I would say this slow considered approach I am taking, adding a little bit at a time is going really well.

Chipping and pitching is a feel thing for me so it's a case of number of balls, imagination and verity for me.

New putter made a bad start in my bag but had what would have to be called a breakthrough at the weekend. In short I no longer line the ball up, I line the putter up. I feel it's pivotal in this whole Edel/Aim Point coupling. Aim Point class before too long!

Thoroughly recommend an Aimpoint lesson

Two things. One, shorter back swing and controlled follow through. Works really well when I do it properly. Hard to restrain myself though, Muppet. Loss of 5 yards or so is worth it for the improvement in ball striking, straightness of shots.

Second, putting has been distinctly below average this year. I am trying to make a shorter, low back swing, grazing the grass going back and then concentrating on a smooth follow through. Results so far are positive.

I always have something to work on. You solve one problem, another arises.........

Been working on getting more consistency in my swing. Been fighting a two way miss all season. Last couple weeks been working to get more width at the top of the backswing and had a breakthrough at the weekend with this. Keeping my trail arm straighter for longer in the backswing which is keeping the width. Now trying to work on a better hip rotation in the backswing and transition.

After a practice on Sunday I decided to play the the last 5 holes which have been my bad holes all year. Played them in 2 over par gross, and eliminated the 8/9's that have been ruining my scores all year. Yeah it was only a practice but it's something to take confidence from.

All that said I've had an alright season, 4 top ten places, 4 buffers but only one cut. It's a year of what could have been for me, hopefully I can get a wee run going in the remaining comps.

Getting games.

All I really need is on course time. Playing the par 3 course at around +2 for 9 and +4 for 18. I just hope I can take that to the longer course on Thursday.

Wont be touching the driver, I have forgotten some key basics it seems so its not worth perusing when my 3 wood is going out 220ish and finds fairways.

Is there a reason? Lack of enthusiasm, not a practice person? Is the handicap climbing or remaining steady?

Culmination of all these things. haven't got the inclination to get to the course after a day at work. we only have comps on Tue and Sunday. Sunday is the only one I can make if I haven't got drunk or someone visiting.

I practice short game most Saturdays when I can.

Scoring not overly great all year. Ball striking had gone to pot. Had some shockers like the 36 hole medal a fortnight ago.

Had planned to get fit and work on my game this summer. I've done neither.

Major swing work has to be a winter pass time. Gets you out of the house on dark nights and hitting balls. I will just play with what I have this year and accept it, good or bad.

Mainly the wiring, heating, bedroom floor and walls, new ensuite, kitchen, double glazing and flat roof. Coupled with a bout of illness hasnt been good for my golf!!!

Less knee flex at address, keeping the right knee flexed in my backswing which also needs to shorten, then bringing the club down underneath the line it went back on.

Was given a great slow motion drill for the latter. Stick an alignment stick in th ground at an angle (roughly plane line) and take the club back outside it and down inside it.
It was going so well I got cocky and made some full speed swings with it, which was fine until I got one wrong and hit the stick flush. It couldn't just graze it or bounce off, it hit it smack bang in th middle and put an alignmentstickend sized dint in the ferrule. Luckily it was an old club.

100 yards in and putting.

I feel like I've come a long way with little bump and run shots and also lobbing over obstacles, I just need to hit the chipping green for 15 minutes prior to a round to remind myself of the feel for the swing. I've found pacing from ball to hole has helped a lot. My go to swing will carry around 20 paces with a 60* wedge so I pace it out and adjust accordingly.

Where im struggling is from about 40 to 80 yards with distance control. From this range I should be putting it within easy putting distance but I'm not really. Just more time on the range is required I think.

Putting has been very inconsistent. First 5 holes on Sunday putting was great including a 25 foot double breaking putt down a ridge on our 5th for a birdie. The rest of the round it was bad - 3 putted the 7th for bogey, missed a 5 foot birdie on 8. Had I holed these I'd have hit a 35 front 9 - very frustrating! Hit a 45 back 9 but putting really let me down and 3 putted 10, 13 & 18 :(

Driver as very inconsistent. I miss both ways which does not help. Work very much getting in the way to sort out. Starting to affect enjoyment of the game.

All but given up on the driver/3-wood and am now turning my attention to long irons off the T's, iron work has seen the most attention to date and has vastly improved over the last 3-4wks, now actually looking like a golfer (as opposed to a hacker) putter seems to have sorted itself out since I changed to a centre shaft, got to work on getting more distance from my wedges as this short/high floppy-shot thing is beginning to wear a little thin now, struggling from the 50-110yd mark...

Nothing really. I think a point comes where I need to just play with the swing I've got and stop tinkering

Short game, short game, short game and...short game.

Promised myself at the start of the season that the only practise I would do would be on chipping and pitching. Everything else I would just play with. So I spend venting after evening chipping up and down the garden. Should get back up the practise green soon, though.

My short game still is still bang average but even at that, it has come a long way. Almost a golfer.

Standing a bit further away and keeping my weight more towards the heels in an effort to not hit everything heel side of middle

Most of my work degenerates though as this range in the Netherlands has basically what are speed limit signs at 50m and 70m and I end up trying to smash driving irons at them. Alternatively the back fence is 220 yards so it declines into trying to fly the top of it which is probably just out of range
