Ok, so with the various comments over numerous threads I thought I would try & get it all in one place.

Apologies if there is already a thread elsewhere, but I couldn't see one.

So, as per the title which mobile phone app is best? Based on following:

1)Ease of use
2)Download cost
3)No Subscription charges
4)Scorecard capability
5)Distances to front/back etc & hazards
6)Feedback on fairways hit, GIR etc
7) Data usage while out on the course

Real life experience please guys. (As opposed to just reviews on websites etc)

Edit- Added number 7 as this is quite an important one I would guess?

I use Hole 19, easy to use gives me everything I want, front/centre/back. You can click on hazard to see how far it is to carry and it is all free. Will give you good stats after your round as well.

Cheers Gaz. As per the edit, do you find you drain a lot of data? And do you need the location services on for it to work?

Another vote for Hole 19 too. They have an excellent website with all the stats too and also has integration into Android Wear and the Apple Watch if you want your data on a SmartWatch too. Only thing it doesn't have is the ability to track an unofficial handicap like some of the others do, I've emailed the devs on this though and they said its something they'll look into.

Not a drain on the battery I've found as you don't need to use background refresh, just pull it out when you need it and it'll update your position in a few seconds. You can even do shot by shot tracking to measure your distances etc or just leave it on auto.

cheers. Will give it a try sunday if I can get signal!!

Thats another great thing about this, as long as you download the map for the course you want all you need is a GPS signal, you don't need to rely on 3G or anything. My club has very little signal in places and goes down to only one bar of gprs and there are no problems.

I've tried Hole19 the last couple of rounds but I've had some strange experiences with GPS not tracking accurately.
Switched back to skydroid for now but I will probably give Hole19 another chance
