I have a Titleist 905R, and its a great driver but... its a few years old and I am looking out for a new driver but I'm not sure which one to get I'm not too keen on buying Brand new for obvious serious money costs but I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions

Titleist 910D2 or 3, they are starting to come down in price on ebay.

do yo think its costing you yards and do yo think you will play better with a new driver (believe me the grass aint always greener)

Ping G15 second hand, Callaway Ft9 second hand. Ex-demo something. I recommend that you try a few or at least have an idea of what your after.

Well I can hit it exceedingly well but just Confidence with it is the important thing, its not that its too hard to hit but more that I just want a change I see people updating their clubs every season but since I'm 16 with two non golfing parents they don't understand that this is a costly hobbie

If I hit a club "exceedingly" well then I wouldnt consider getting rid of it!
Seriously mate, dont waste your money!
I know its difficult when you really want something new but just evaluate it properly, weigh up the pros and cons and try too get the confidence back with your current driver. After all if you're hitting it well you must have some confidence with it?

Its obviously hard to just suggest clubs as a driver is so personal to the individual but I reckon looking for an old G15 like thecraw suggested could be a good bet.

If you are looking even cheaper I reckon all the old Taylor Made Burners (2007-2009) are great clubs...

A driver does get used a lot so can wear out. I would consider getting a new shaft put in it, go get custom fitted. Cost me about £90 and I got a stunning shaft put in that was custom fitted to me.

I'm just thinking about buying my first driver. I have been using my friends cheap nasty thing. But now I think I'm ready to buy my own.

I am looking around the 130-150 mark, but I want a driver that is both forgiving and will allow me to progress.

Have my eye on the burner superfaast at american golf. only 135.

Jamesstor, as EXprophet said, any of the burner or burner superfast range are pretty decent. try and see if the staff will allow you to try different loft and shaft flex's to get the right one for you.

Weirdest thing about this forum is that people love to tell you what to do with your own money. The post is called “what driver” not “shall I spend my own money on a new driver”. I just don’t get it?

It is impossible to get sensible recommendations without some into on what spec the 905 is, how you hit it, what your swings speed, trajectory and shot type is and what you want out of a new one (more distance, more control, admiring glances from other players?)

The 905 is still as good a driver now as it was a few years ago and Adam Scott only switched relatively recently (and probably after persuasion from Titleist).

Well it is fitted with the legendary Aldila NV 65 shaft. I'd be a pretty straight hitter with maybe a bit of draw. It's not that I don't like the driver I just want something new to keep up with fashion as since mine was new there has been another three Titleist models produced

If it's purely cosmetic reasons I'd be tempted to stay put, hence the saying "If it ain't broke.... Don't fix it"

The 907 was widely viewed as a disaster.

The 909 was a bug fix for the 907 which brought Titleist back to roughly where they were with the 905.

The 910 is an improvement, but is expensive.

The 905 is a classic, and if it works, I'd stick with it. No one is ever going to laugh at a guy with a 905 for having out dated kit unless they are an idiot. NV64 is one of my favourite shafts too. Nothing wrong with your driver there.

Like it's been said, unless you get a marked improvement in a new driver then I personally wouldn't change.

If your insistent on getting a new driver then I'd look at the 910 range, G15 or the R11/burner superfast as they seem to be the best on the market from all the reviews and people on here too.

Personally I don't like the NV shaft, because I think it feels very dull and unresponsive, but it is still one of the most widely used shafts on Tour, so it doesn't need to be replaced because it is out of date. If it doesn't suit your swing, that is a different matter.

Well I think I've made a decision I would occasionally hit my friends R9 so I think I'm gonna go for one of them 10.5* stiff shaft thanks for all of your advice
