what does an away handicap mean

You can be a member of as many clubs as you wish but you can only register a handicap at one club. This is to prevent you having more than one handicap.

If you want to find out where he has his handicap can you not ask him? or do a search on HDID
Is this for a national comp you are playing in?

Not relevant if it’s a club competition.

For instance I’m a member at two clubs, Tain and Nairn but my home club is Nairn. It just means when I play at Tain all my scores have to be passed on by the club or myself to Nairn.

i have a match against a player who has an away handicap what does that mean

How did you come to know he's an "Away" player? You should be informed which club is his "Home" club. He is responsible for telling you his current playing handicap before your match starts.

It will depend on the competition rules then, you will have to check those.

In the Volvo i got home draw for both mine, the first was just the draw and the 2nd cos i played my game quicker and the first results got home draw.

i know he is an away play as it says on his clubs membership sheet on howdidido but what im getting at is what if he is a player at another club an does not hand his cards in at this club and plays off a bent handicap i just dont want to be fiddled out of any chance of progressing to the national finals

If both clubs, as the vast majority of clubs now are, are registered to and updating to the Central Database of Handicaps, then his Away scores will be automatically actioned onto his Home club's system. It is still, however, his responsibility to ensure that this is taking place.

If you can find out his Home club and they are on Howidido, you can look at results from both clubs' competitions and see if his handicap is the same on both sets of results.

So, that club you talk about above will not be his home club. The other club you talk about, his home club, will have all his scores at that club. So why are you bothered. If his away club, his second club, is with HDID then I cant see him being able to bend his HC. Do you know his away club, can you check his scores to see if it ties in with his HC. He must have reg under some club, did he enter under his away club?
