Just read Ashley Cole shot a student last Sunday at their training ground with an air rifle. Initially it was all kept hush hush but now it has leaked out the club may fine him 2 weeks wages (£250,000).

I would love to see the wee dick sacked and then charged by the police just like you or I would be if we had committed the same crime. Surely they should be able to sack him and keep his registration so he couldn't sign another mega bucks move to another club. He would then need to find a job outwith the game. If I loose my driving license I would need to find a new career, so should this wee effer.

What do you guys think?

Chelsea will take "appropriate" action.
Ok he's going to get fined 250k - big deal...
Appropriare.action would be a fine, termination of contract and a visit to the Police.
It wont happen though but its time these idiots returned to the real world.
What idiot takes a gun to work?

The reason you cant sack them is if they are any good they start playing for your rivals and you loose out anyway

That's my point. I think if a player does something as serious as this the club should be able to sack him and retain his registration until the contract expires. He could find alternative employment until then but he wouldn't be allowed to play professional football until he is free from a contract.

Do you think the victim has been furnished with cash to keep schtum?

I think this is *exactly* what has happened. He wasn't treated in hospital and the police were not informed.

I think this stinks of Chelski trying to cover it up massively by treating the victim at their own medical facility and keeping it on the down low.

He should be sacked and banned from playing professional football for an agreed period.

Stupid prick.

perhaps he was just working out the script for "dead man running" II with his m8 Rio

which glamorizes gangs n guns and then when another kid gets shot n killed rio can whine at the government saying its all their fault and not take any responsibility on himself or cole for glamorizing it

correct he was a ***, but it was an air rifle not a bloody assult rifle. legal power less then 12ft/lb. they were pissing about, havent we all done, and still do stupid things. none of you every hit a wayward shot, that could potentially kill.
lets get things in perspective, he will be dealt with by the club, its an internal matter, unlike rooney who tried open air assult.
do you phone the police when there are raised voices in your house? as this can now be viewed as aggression.
its up to the kid that was involved if he was hurt, how far it is taken.
shagster

its an internal matter

I don't think that's true - now it's out in the open I don't think the cps will have any choice but to prosecute - and the kid not wanting to take it further won't have any bearing on it. neither will the club having taken action as it's a criminal offence.

I don't know when it occurred but if it was after those schoolkids getting shot with an air rifle in Scotland then he's on a hiding to nothing.

As much as I hate Cashley, I find this quite funny, and a bit out of all proportion. He is an idiot, pay the lad some compensation, and move on.

Murph, maybe in a reasonably sane world . . . but big brother isn't leaving himself with much in the way of leeway nowadays.

and if it had been one of my kids there isn't enough money to buy his way out

Who as a kid hasn't shot a mate in the arse with an air rifle? I thought that was what they were for? None of us died. Can't get that excited about it.

from the express
The student, 21-year-old Tom Cowan, was left with blood pouring down his side after being hit by a pellet from the .22 rifle.

He had been standing just five feet away from Cole, 30.

The incident happened as the team prepared for its Champions League match against FC Copenhagen last Tuesday.

The intern was assisted by the club’s doctors at its state-of-the-art medical centre, but needed further treatment 48 hours later when the wound did not stop bleeding

I read and heard that the Surrey police have opened a file and are opening a file. That suggests they will at least look to prosecute. I like the idea of sacking a player and keeping the registration but they would go straight to the EU and claim restriction of trade and win huge compo
