Was out in a 3 ball the other day with a friend and another chap. (Both better players by 10shots+) we played a game off full handicap allowance. We shared 6 points between us depending on result. Also the lowest knocked back to 0 and it was always a multiple of 3 and keep scores down.

I can't remember it's name but I enjoyed it as although I had a poor start a mid round flurry left me with a chance to win going to the 18th somehow. Although I lost, It was a very close game and I've never came close to beating my mate before.

Don't suppose anyone knows what's it's called so I can read up about scoring so can play with my normal partners. Scoring seemed confusing as I've never played it before.

Just call 6's.
sometimes people play 9's

Its a really fun format :)

You basically split the scores.

if you get for example
Player A = net 4
Player B = net 5
Player C = net 6

A = 3 points
B = 2 points
C = 1 point

Another scenario

A gets net 5
b gets net 5
C get nets 7

Players A and B shall get 3 points each.....

lots of different scoring combinations but you get the idea :)

would be scored 4,2,0 the way we play it

Yeah that's it. Also then the lowest score is set to zero and whatever is taken away gets taken off other scores? That sound about right?
My mate said it was simple but I was confused as hell when he was saying the scores out

yep thats it, some people find it easy some get confused. Last time i tried to play it with 2 who hadnt played it before i got accused of making the scores up lol

Haha when I was stuck on 0 i did start to wonder if they was making it up even after doing OK as I was playing bogey golf for a couple holes and still had 0 points

We play this format annually with 2 other clubs, 8 players a side in 8 3-balls, playing 3 rounds, once at each venue for a trophy. All involved think it is a tremendous format and can't wait each year for the first fixture.
