The reason i ask is my mate has just played The Old Head of Kinsale and was blown away with how good it was.

For me it was the first time i played The Strand course at Portstewart the front 9 holes are something else, and it got better the more i played it.
Now i'm looking forward to hopefully going to play The Old Head and Waterville with him later on in the year.

I'll go for Carnoustie. Played it on a great day a couple of years after Paul Lawrie won his Open there. I started well but suffered in the middle before ending well. Played the last four holes par, bogey, par, par which was an amazing feeling. We were fed and watered at one of the wee clubs along the side of the course and when we left late evening to drive home the sun was low in the sky and the place just had that 'special' aura about it. Cracking course, has to be on everybodies 'must play' list surely.

Dave Carnoustie is a fantastic course ,i've been lucky to play it many a time as my dad was a member there and was dragged around there every weekend when i was a kid,

Its a course i've played in all weathers and conditions it will bite your backend but i think its a very fair track

West Kilbride, just a joy to play. Best in North Ayrshire!

Can I have three courses ?

The Old Course at St Andrews was all I was expecting and a lot more. I think the 14th is the best hole I have played.

Saunton East is just superb, and it has always been sunny and dry when I have played it.

A course I was surprised by was Broadstone. The best course in Dorset.

It should be Steve...played it sunday and thought it was excellent but personally prefered Royal Portrush.

2 superb tracks and the other course course at Portrush is a great test.

And I will be going back to play The Strand at Portstewart......Anchor Bar as the digs:p

I knew you lads would enjoy The Anchor its some place:whoo: The Valley at Portrush is very underrated its a good test.

You'll enjoy Portstewart Ivan i promise you that even just for the views from the clubhouse ,if your in that area try Castlerock as well and about an hours drive is Ballyliffin i'm sure Dodger will vouch on how good they are.

Wow, difficult to narrow it down to just one course but if I did it's another vote for Royal County Down.

Can I add more please??

Europe.....Valderrama

USA.......The Frog at the Georgian (the closest mortals can get to Augusta)

I'll also take 3. Carnoustie, or Carnastie as it was at the time; the Friday after Paul Lawrie won the Open, rough still rough, grandstands still up, greens still silly quick. Royal St. Georges when I was allowed to play off the backs with a friend who was an assistant pro. And Bethpage Black in 2009, when it had held its second US Open. All three left me with a new appreciation of just how good the pros really are, as well as being outstanding courses in their own right.
