Hi,
im after new clubs which are very forgiving as I'm fairly new to golf but I'm playing with dunlop tours !! I say no more !!
i got measured up at American golf with some ping g20's and it worked out I'm a silver dot ( +3.75 ) and 1/2" longer on the shaft, would those figures work out on any clubs or just pings ? Also if you could advise on what clubs would be best for a high handy cap that would be great !!

Regards

Super Game Improver.
To an extent I agree with the above except that Ping are actually quite technically ingenious in that they put a notch in the hosel that allows them to adjust cast clubs by some margin (3.75° for example). I am not sure how many other cast clubs that dont have that notch will handle a large adjustment without weakening or potentially damaging them. Just my opinion of course.

I always wondered why Ping did that.....you learn something new every day :)

Are there any clubs you guys recommend ?

It all depends on your budget, and how much you actually want to spend?

I'm guess the pings were around £300-400 being an older model now the g25 are out, but other SGI Irons I would look towards are callaway x16, x18,x20 x22 irons, just not the tour models. These are known for being on of the easiest irons to hit, just use your ping fitting as a guide and look for irons of similar length and lie specs. Ping generally don't get it wrong so it's a good bench mark.

just go to American golf and get as many sets as you can , try all the major brands and its helpful if the shop is at a range and youre not hitting into a net . I just bought a set of nike coverts and I tried nike taylormade speedblades and callaway xhots

Would any of you guys recommend cleveland clubs ?

I have a set of Callaway X-Hot 5-PW + Approach Wedge and Sand Wedge in the classifieds. They are very forgiving, have fantastic feel and are ideal for mid to high handicap players.

I think that's what I'll go for then !! Thanks to everyone who has help out :)

Don't be blinded by looks, hit everything on a monitor and buy on the best numbers that suit you, I was fitted GIR my driver, I hated its looks, hated with a passion but couldn't look past the numbers that against everything, it was the best for me

Definately try as many as you can. Pings were rubbish for HID so he ended up with Titleist. They were the same for me and I've now got Callaways. Between us we tried Ping, Callaway, Taylormade, Cobra (x 3 sets for me), Titleist and Cleveland. There's another thread on how many drivers I tried:o
