Hi All
Ive been playing now for around 4 years, ive managed to get myself down to as good as 13 but havent played for about 10 months after re joining and playing two comps im at a steady 18 at the minute my current clubs are maxfli tour limited but they are quite old and i cannot find any information on them.
Its time for me to buy some new irons anyway and with my handicap being 18 but i personally put myself as a good 15 to 16 handicapper, once i get playing again. Im not one of these people who think they will play in the single figures i know the best i will probably get to is about 12. But i really enjoy the game.
I have been looking at the R11 irons but im unsure on wether these will be to good for me or will they be perfect for me to be able to progress my game. I hit my current irons very well straight but i just dont get the distance i want, i think some of that is to do with my current clubs. Ive read they are mid handicap range irons but also going more towards the better golfer (lower handicap)
Just wondering on anyones recomendations on the R11'a and are they a good choice or any other irons which are suitable for myself looking to get from 18 handicap to 12 or below.

Just go and give some irons a bash including the ones you fancy in your price range. You will probably get a very good idea of what will suit you then and you know what you buy will suit rather than guessing.

Or you could buy my Mizuno JPX 825 Pro irons like new £350 delivered !

R300 Regular steel shafts RH

Cost me £500 last December and used approx. 6 times in total

Sorry for the plug !

thanks mate yeh iver been reading alot about them and they do seem the best set for my situation

the Maxfli Tour's aren't the easiest club to hit, there were also the Bob Charles LH blade made at the same time (which I had). It's difficult not to agree that the R11's should be an excellent match, especially at that price. Bluntly there are lots of possible clubs, but you can give the R11s a go for little financial risk.

go for the r11 if you like the look of should fit you nicely from what you described, you are the type of golfer they were looking for with these irons. Enjoy! :)

By all means treat yourself to a nice new set if you fancy but I would also suggest booking a lesson before splashing the cash to find out the root cause of your lack of distance. New clubs are not necessarily the solution

I had the R11's playing off 10-11 and they were a decent enough club. Only changed as I was offered the TM Tour Preferred at a silly price to turn down. My advice would be to go down to your club pro (ideally) and try as many as you can. Plenty of good makes and models out there and it comes down to personal preference. Just try before you buy
