Whilst on my honeymoon I just could not resist taking a trip to this place and taking a look around.

What a place this is, a must for any Taylormade fan. Every club in the range with almost every shaft option available. The clothing department also stockade basically everything in the Adidas range. It has a driving range with USGA spec greens and a floodlit 9-hole par 3 course, with the same USGA spec greens.

They had a full Taylormade staff compliment including a Taylormade master club fitter.

I did manage to pick myself up a little wedding present whilst I was there. A 12* SLDR 430 with a stiff Black Tie shaft fitted. Now I know people are going to wonder why after getting a Mini Driver and going on about how amazing it is I have done this, but what the trackman was saying and the look on Frank the master club fitters face just sold me on it. He fitted me in 10 swings and had it set up perfectly. I managed to increase my average by 27 yards with the before and after figures.

The first average at 271 was us messing around with shafts and heads. The second one of 298 was after messing around with head settings to get the launch angle and flight correct. In the end it was set up for me to hit a nice power fade, as opposed to the draw I was originally hitting during the fitting. I ended up with the head delofted to 10.5* and the weight set into the fade position. This setup just allowed me to swing away and have quite good control over it. The last 2 hits is the club set to the final settings, the second to last hit was a bit out of the toe, but still flew. The last one though was right out the middle of the club and my jaw dropped when I watched it on the flightscope screen. Afterwards we took it to the range to see it fly in real time and it was still going a country mile and pretty straight.

That's some good hitting that mate. I was watching a youtube pro (rick sheils) where he had he 14 degree v the 3 deep and his average was 235.

Great looking shop, I wanna go.... american golf will have to up there game over here.

Seems like almost everyone that gets fitted for one of these ends up with a matrix black tie.

Did you get the standard one or the pimp-my-drive white head?

Black head. The difference between the Speeder TP shaft and the black tie is huge, the black tie was giving me an extra 20 yards,

Did try and tell you to get the black tie when you first looked at the mini Adey ;)

sounds like a decent wedding present and assume things are going well and youre settling into your new life :)

Why can't the UK do this sort of thing. I know there are big fitting centres dotted around and each manufacturers have their own head office fitting centres but nothing on the scale or quality

Because the demand in the UK isn't as big as in the US

It's in Vegas, best city in the world :whoo:

Im pretty sure it used to be the Callaway centre, it looks the exact same as when I went, unless they have built something almost exactly the same. Top place, top city!

I understand that. It just seems that the US has the whole customer service thing sewn up and we never seen to get it right. There are some fantastic fitting centres around the but nothing on this scale

Depends what you mean by customer service ? When I got my irons from TM the service from them was great throughout - from what you said the service you got from Ping was great , mainly I don't hear too many bad reports of customer service from the Manufacturers and local pros and even AG and DG - do we really do customer service that bad ? Not in my experience

I think if you are dealing with manufacturers directly, then fine but look at the horror stories on here from time to time about people buying online. I wonder if there was something akin to these fitting centres (Belfry, Silvermere and many others) but on a bigger and grander scale. I agree it probably isn't what the UK is about, but imagine the fun you'd have there, especially if they rolled it into some kind of practice super centre.

Those stories you hear are more in the minority when you think of how many people are out there buying equipment - the people in the US will have the same odd horror story of an online site with it's problems.

It would be great to have a large fitting centre with all the makes etc but just don't think it would work on many levels in the UK

I will eat humble pie and agree maybe I should have got the Mini with the Black Tie fitted, but I do love the Bi-Matrix shaft I have fitted now.

Everything is going well thanks Steve. Got married last Saturday in Vegas, stayed for a few days and now up in San Francisco.
