One word explains it all ...

LIABILITY.

If a kid falls their perents sue, if a kid gets hit with a snowball, they sue, run in front of a car and get hit, sue, if they fall out a tree its never their fault but that of someone who didnt put up an effin sign saying falling out of trees can seriously harm your health.

Our country is on its arse because no-one wants to work, they just want to sue the arse off everyone and claim benefits to fund their dead end lives.

Spot on mad, I was called to a first aid a few weeks ago, A lady ahd slipped over on some ice cream that I presume was spilt by a customer. I could see when I approached the lady she had taken a nasty fall, possibly broken nose, deep cut to left eye etc etc. Before I could even ask her name, some silly old lady was dragging me away to show me the ice cream she slipped on. I physically had to detatch her from me saying, I need to treat the lady first its more important. All the time I was seeing to the ladies injuries, this other old lady kept banging on about suing the ass off the company. 'Take pics, am ya witness, that shouldn't be there, i watched ya fall' Not, how are you, are you ok, would you like a hand, do you need me to help.

Spot on Madandra. As for the story above. It's all too true sadly.

Just to add a little something. Isn't it our generation that's causing all these problems anyway. You know, the ones that used to fall out of trees when we were younger, get burnt by the cub scout fire, and falling off our Choppers and Grifters trying insane jumps. So where did it all go wrong? Did too many of us end up in Blairs employment 'opportunities' within the public sector, with these pathetic job titles!!

Temporary Data Protection and Freedom Information Officer
(surely a conflict of interests!!)

Public Benefit Outreach Officer

Renewable Energy Technical Officer

Internal Communications Manager

Aiming High Project Manager

Senior Manager: Integrated Connexions 4 Youth

DAAT Assertive Response Team Workers

Marine Protected Area Advisers

Strategic Performance Advisor (Equality and Diversity)

Mentor Co-ordinator

Senior Research Fellows: Governance in Challenging Environments

Community Safety Assistant Manager

Economic Development Managers x3

You get the drift. All of these are genuine, and straight off The Guardians (where else, well it wouldn't be The Mail would it!!), website.

I've got nothing against the public sector providing proficient and effecient services. But so much money is wasted, rephrase, so much of our money is wasted, and I won't even mention the unaffordable pension scheme they get; that I'm paying for!!

And before anyone says it, I'm equally as hacked off with the big bounuses and golden handshakes that the city boys are getting, despite failing at their jobs.

Arhhhh. Perhaps I should of just joined the feds at 18, and been able to retire in a few years time!!

This countries certainly turned to ...........

I agree. I was in the scouts and picked up a few scars. I fell down a mountain path and landed on top of a boulder on a school trip (cracked ribs) but it was my fault for thinking I could take a short cut down the hill to the bottomd of the path. Did my parents sue. No chance and had I actually told them how I did it (football injury during a lunchbreak was the excuse given) they'd have told me it was my own fault.

Now I have to be honest and say I have worked in the public sector quite a bit and yes there are times when it has been like a holiday camp in comparison to private sector roles and flexi time is ideal for summer golf, but I take pride in my work especially now within my NHS trust and think that to a certain degree my trust (I can't speak for tohers) has learnt past lessons and is at least more mindful of the way it spends and its accountability.

I have to agree though that the country is on its backside. I have HID who is a brilliant HR administrator with years of experience and legislative knowledge considering a part time role in Tescos because there is no work. 250 + letters to company's across the Thames Valley and London has netted a handful of interviews. Several companys have pulled the job after interview stage and although she has been offered one job, they have now moved the start date to at least April as approval hasn't been given yet?? It just makes the idea of sitting back and letting the government support you seem the more attractive offer. No wonder the kids have no interest in work after leaving school. Its there on a plate for them.

and the other mad side of Liability

if the council grit the path and you fall - they are liable
if they don't grit and you fall - they are not

what sort of assinine magistrate (and it would have been one) was responsible for setting that precedent?

wake up world - you are allowed to have accidents!
christ, if my parents had sued everytime my brothers and me had had accidents we would still be in court!

As a clams handler for over 25 yrs i have seen and heard it all before.
The problem is with the judges and the judgments handed down over the years, judgments which are precedents for future cases.
Judges dont realise compensation comes from the insurance premia paid by motorists and companies and the higher awards and perverse judgments result in increased premia for all ordinary citizens.

Of course the UK is about 5/10 yrs behind Ireland in the level of awards and the type of claims dreamed up by imaginative solicitors.

Wait till you have the defence forces seeking compo for deafness caused by using weapons.

I honestly despair sometimes.

I'm British and proud but have to say the country's going down the toilet big style.

People afraid of voicing opinion for fear of offending minorities. Don't mention Christmas, St George or anything of a Christian nature.

Be a clumsy idiot and have an accident, first priority - sue!

Transfer as many jobs overseas, destroy this countries once superior manufacturing industry. Import everything. Permanently lose the proud phrase "Made in Britain" as we no longer make anything over here.

Jesus, now I am wound up!

Well I get annoyed at all this as well. But, my company has just closed it’s Taiwan operations meaning my job is more secure, mainly due to the pound dollar exchange rate. We can now make stair lifts for the US market cheaper hear in Scotland.

What really rips my knitting is the folk who milk the system, have the full Sky package, car outside the house, get all the benefits going, do ef all work while their kids run around unsupervised. And there’s my daughter who looks after old and dying people, who happen to pay a fortune for the privilege, while my daughter gets paid a pittance. Then we have people we should trust, like the head teacher who had hundreds of child porn photos on his computer. Bent cops, bent lawyers who cream the legal aid system, bent clergy who take advantage of vulnerable people, politicians who fill their own boots while kidding on they care about us, builders who cheat and rip off old people, bankers…………don’t get me started on the banks.

Played 7's last night and my body is aching for pain killers hence the time of my post:

The older I get the better I was.

When I was 14 I was a promising young swimmer and one Saturday morning in August I went to the pool with my mates and as I was about to dive in (you could dive in then) the pool attendant hosed me (whe was a friend and a great fella) and I slipped in vertically and smacked my head on the bottom. Initially I thought it was just a 5 inch cut that turned out to be a broken neck and I was in hospital until 31st October. 10 weeks in a ward of 30 older men and being bed bathed by young nurses but still litigation was never mentioned and I am glad because it was an accident. Two years later I did a 3 mile sponsor swim at the same pool (216 lenghths) for a hospital that treated paraplegics. I lost the tip of my finger on the same day 7 years later and again no suing So now I stay in bed on the 14th of August.

:::::::::::::::: NO WIN NO FEE :::::::::::::

IF ONLY OUR GOLF COURSES HAD THE SAME GAURANTEE I COULD PLAY FOR £15 A YEAR.

forgot to mention the newest type of claim over here.
Kids in road traffic accidents, no physical injuries but a claim arises claiming psychological trauma and a return to bed wetting.

the two worse were a 10 mth baby whose mother claimed child suffering psychological trauma--how the F*** would you know.
Second a two year old who regressed to bed wetting.

what a scam.
