Today was the last of my unpaid days off work and was not expecting mutch of a day due to crap weather forecast. Woke up to brilliant sunshine, no wind, no rain. It was almost summery. Was even warm enought to play in just a polo shirt (OK wore trousers etc as well). Shot 92, a new record for me, on an almost empty course, Heaven.

Well done GB72 and I agree!
Still feeling bruised from a couple of weeks bad golf I sallied forth and got 35 stableford points - best for a while. We were accompanied by our jumior pro who could hit twice my distance but inspired me to play respectable golf. Weather had a lot to do with it, I think. The sun shone, the fairways rolled (will spare you the clothing choices, but at least one layer was removed...)
thinking Homer and the boys should have had the same weather. !

Couldn't agree more, I finished work and have just got 9 in, perfect finish to a day. Though weather is supposed to be rubbish tomorrow when I'm playing, I have my 1st ever club v club match and I'm quite nervous so any tips would be greatly received.

Spent the day at our allotment (me, OH and 2 kids - the amount of food required to fed them is ridiculous), which is right net to the golf club. Sunny morning, bit of rain at lunchtime and sunnt afternoon. Went to puting green on way home, but wished I'd brought my clubs and stayed for a game as not a cloud in the sky and only 8 cars in the car park - the course would have been all mine. :( I bet it rains tomorrow.

Barb,

The main thing in inter club matches is to enjoy it. Providing it is just a friendly inter club rivalry and not some major league or knock-out just go out to do your best and enjoy the company of the others.

I played in the Golf Monthly challenge today with realgolferuk from here and basically we were chatting with the GM staff about their jobs with the magazine, how they got into it, their golfing history etc. The only time we stopped was to take our shots.

The other thing is, providing you play four bal better ball, don't get too concerned if you mess a hole up. That is what you have a partner for, to carry you when thinks get sticky and vice versa.

I hope it all goes well. Give us a report once you get back. Good luck

Have to say it doesn't look good but then it didn't yesterday and look what happened. If it is wet, just try your best to keep your grips dry. I'd pack 3 or 4 gloves (ideally a rain glove that grips better the wetter it gets!) and I'd keep a towel inside my brolley. I normally keep a couple of small towels inside a carrier bag in my bag so I can swap them over once they get wet.

You may find you will be slightly slower if you dry your grips but it is essential in bad weater as you cannot swing properly if they are wet. Don't get concerned about holding the others up (unless you are really slow when drying) as it is your game and you should do everything to maximise your potential on each shot

Polo shirt eh? Hmm! Did it have a collar and conform to the dress code?

Pity no one saw your 92.

Very quick to cast aspersions. Then again since he was playing by himself he wouldnt have been able to ask anyone if he can repair a plug mark which after all might not be a pitchmark in your world so he has obviously cheated!

You really do come across as a prize prat!

Well done on your best score mate, now aim for level 5's and before you know it you'll be breaking the magical 90 which I remember was a monumental figure.

It was fantastic weather here as well and I managed a very constructive lesson down at Irvine Bogside, sadly didnt manage a few holes as I am going away for a weekends golf with my mates (getting picked up in half an hour :D) and had to get back to her indoors!
