So I played in what is a a sort of society today and I'm not naming where as I don't want to embarrass the organisers who were pretty faultless. Everyone playing were club members and had handicaps and we were at a course in Kent

Operation stack made getting there tough but we did arrive.

Sitting having a roll with my playing partners, one of the organisers (a 50 year old teaching pro) saw us, and walked 10 yards into the clubhouse, shook our hands and started to walk out, was accosted by a member and ordered to remove his cap.

One of my playing partners, regularly walked on everyone's putting lines, only raked a bunker on the 18th but went in several, took 4 practice swings before every shot, played out of turn regularly including putting, helecoptered his driver into the trees after a bad drive, insisted on holing out even if he couldn't score, invited a group through at a totally inappropriate time,

Because of the above, and my concern for etiquette, I was thoroughly pee'd off and angry and my game struggled. I couldn't say anything as I didn't want to upset my mate who was playing with us and is employed by the guy and I regularly play with.

Operation stack made getting home a nightmare and I wish, suffering with a summer cold too, that I'd not bothered to get out of bed this morning! And - yes, I know I should have spoken to him but sometimes you just can't!

You have my deepest sympathies I would find it equally intolerable to have the pro wearing his cap in the clubhouse , sounds like your playing partner was upset about it as well.

I thought they might hang him by the goolies from the flag pole. Also, I don't think I've been to a club with some many "do" and "don't" signs and the usual "visitors car park" further down than the members one.

When I started playing the Pro was not allowed in the clubhouse.

It sounds a bit grim, though I was reprimanded the other week for wearing a cap in the clubhouse, it was semi in jest, I had forgotten I was wearing it.

A golf cap, in a golf clubhouse, whatever next?!
next you'll be telling us that there were women in there, and people dressed without collar and tie!

Do you know ........ there may well have been both of those same things!

Actually, my own club don't, like most clubs, allow caps to be worn in the clubhouse I think it was just the sheer speed that the complainant swooped to tell him that suprised me.

I said in my OP about the signage being ott and there was one forbidding mobile phones being turned on anywhere but you were allowed to carry one for emergency calls on the course! So they've never heard of silent mode!
