Anyone else see this? Looked promising, strong cast, stellar budget. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. Anthony Hopkins just has huge screen presence. Very watchable actor.

Yep, thought it was excellent as an opener. They've captured the android "uncanny valley" feeling really well and it's setting itself up to be very promising. The scene with Hopkins and the old barman android was brilliantly disturbing, walking the line between robotic and humanity incredibly well.

Downsides are that it's a bit too obviously Scifi Game Of Thrones.

Yes it is. Even to the point where it is set in a Western town still. Presumably they have the option to change the world to whatever they want though if they want to freshen it up at some stage.

I watched it but will probably watch again tonight just to get my head round it even more. I was ignorant to the 73 film so didn't know what to expect but now at least i know what Kirk Brandon was on about when he sang " do you believe in the westworld "

Loved the 73 movie and watched the first episode with interest, so far so good. The English guy in it was quite annoying he kept using the F-word which grates after a while.

Apart from that though I agree it looks very promising. I may need to store a few up on Sky+ before going back to it.

what English guy?? i thought they all had American Accents, except Anthony Hopkins, no idea where he was supposed to be from:rofl:

The script writer I think is the one you mean. I enjoyed it. It set up the series well. I'm not sure how far you can take this but we will see. There certainly looks as though enough money has been spent on it.

Watched it last night on catch-up. Looks good - not sure if I am supposed to engage with the anderoid characters - once I've sorted out which they are - as they live their groundhog day 'lives' - and apparently not realising that they are not real people and are reset every day? Though I'm not sure yet on that 'reset' as an anderoid could find itself in a 'sleepover' when they are supposed to be on a train etc. But I remain not critical at the moment.

My one concern is how you get more than one series out of it. Clearly it is meant as a long term project but it seems to be going down the 'androids develop sentient life' and I cannot see how that becomes a 5 or 6 season program.

And there was me thinking I was the only one who had Spear of Destiny spring to mind when I heard the series title.
