Westwoods putting- useful for us all?

First time I've seen Lee Westwoods putting this year.

He's a Ping Anser style blade putter with an arc so works best with a toe hang putter we are led to believe. Everything else is pretty standard....putter grip and his actual grip

Now he's putting well so far with.....

A Mallet putter
A Thick super stroke grip
Cack Handed :mmm:

I've stuck with blades/toe hang because I'm strong arc and supposed to:rolleyes:

bought 2 new putters in last 3 months, both SBST mallets- love them- go figure

I've just changed from a scotty to a ping. The ping is just what feels right compared to the scotty which was technically correct.
You need absolute confidence in your putter, get it how ever you can. ( that includes broom handles)

What style did you go from/to?

According to the Ping App, I suit 'Slight Arc'. I actually use a face balanced mallet with a superstroke grip, a la Westy. Works for me.

When I was fitted for my Cameron, I was told by the fitter that my stroke path had a very, very slight arc to it. Not strictly SBST, but not a pronounced arc either.

During the fitting I had a play with face balanced mallets. Very stable, holed quite a few, but I had a tendency to miss to the right.

Considering I have only a very, very slight arc to my putting stroke, here is how much toe hang my Del Mar has:

That amount of toe hang would be better suited to someone who has a more pronounced or strong arc stroke, yet I putt just fine with it and was by far the most consistent putter I used when fitted.

As for grip sizes. I've used most sizes to be honest. From the stock Scotty Pistolero to a Superstroke 2.0 and now back to an Iomic medium, but on the whole I've found that my most consistent putting comes from using a small(er) grip.

The Iomic grip I have is good, but I'm looking currently at giving a Pingman blackout a trial. I had a play (while waiting for my pro) with an Anser milled that had the PP58 Ping man grip on and really liked the feel of the grip in the hands.
