I see he's put the new Ping i series irons straight into the bag this week.
Seeing as he's usually very reluctant to change and they're straight in for something as big as the Open.. Maybe Ping are onto a winner with these.

I like the look. Its certainly a classier look than the i20 & i25. I think I'll be having a whack when they land at Chilli dip.

Im a bit low on iron sets at the moment, I need to replenish the stock in the man cave

Im getting a bit bored of the diggers now, my eyes have started roving :D

They've served you well but your better than the JCBs mate. They'll have to employ another Greenkeeper at Davyhulme soon with all that turf interaction :D

I tell you what.. Those Cleveland 588 TT that Wolfie has are lovely. I had a few whacks on Tuesday and couldn't put them down. Can be had at a great price too.

More likely Ping have realised Westwood is just an also ran in the Ping stable and are dictating to him what he plays. Westwood's glory days are behind him. Yes he'll contend in the occasional tournament and possibly even win a couple but he's tumbling down the world rankings all the time and when was the last time he really threatened in a major?

Yeah I might give them a look...I left my i20's in Spain and back with the i15's which are looking a bit clunky these days.

Does anybody have any experience with the option TT XP95 shafts? I have the KBS tour 90 fitted in both sets and love the shafts but its a £100 upgrade so was wondering if the XP 95 would work in place of the KBS shafts?

You really think that Ping would force one of their longest lasting staffers and a true Ping statesman into playing a club for a bit of promo during the biggest comp of the year?…..yeah right!

Yes.

Westwood and his reluctance to change has always irritated Ping. His insistence on using i10 for years and G10 when they had new models up always went against the grain. Even now he's gaming an Anser driver which is over 3 years old. Ping like every manufacturer want their top players to play recent models in order to promote sales and market exposure.

Look at Bubba, despite wanting it Pink he's happy to upgrade to G30 in pink.

I thought bubba still used the S59's right up until the s55's were released.

He shunned both the 56 and 57 for years.

These guys aren't bothered about getting the newest gear into the bag (even if your sponsor wants them too), if the new clubs don't give them a benefit, they simply don't use it. Its as simple as that.
Look at all the players that use different manufactures clubs with a different head cover (this is what Westwood did for years with his G10 driver).
NO PRO will be forced into playing a club they don't want too!

Bout time you changed those shovels ;) ;)

Your not wrong chaps, theyre like a comfort blanket though

Off tomorrow so will be taking a few for a test drive before watching the open :whoo:

Maybe Westwood just likes them. I really don't think he'd stick them in the bag just because Ping say so given his preference for sticking with older models that gives him confidence. I'm looking forward to seeing them in the flesh and trying them

He's been using a G30 LS Tech driver this week
