Westwood and Foley part....?

do you know, youv'e made my day, fancy "tont " winning the 97 masters with the beloved Mizuno's,theres no wonder it was all down hill from then,I just hate Nike clubs,no buttery feel at all.

Thought Ollie won with TM ?

Edit: that was his driver

Used Maruman irons

That was in 94 - made by Miura.

Woosnam also won with Maruman.

I believe, can't find confirmation though - so could quite possibly be wrong - that one win, therefore 99, was with Miz. I actually thought it was more the other way around and that he'd used TP9s and 19s. So maybe the Masters wins were post Mizuno period. He certainly changed clubs a bit - a McGregor guy for a while too!

Tigger's TP29s in 97 were rumoured to be Miuras too - as have all his irons through the Titleist (I've even hit some T-Stamp 681s) and Nike years.

Have you been sniffing the butter ?

Lee should go back with Pete Cowan for some tweaking.

Trouble is Lee has 'tinkered' with his swing to get better- nothing wrong with that- but it hasn't worked out well for Padraig and Tiger either- he needs to get back to basics

And Woods has been rumoured to be using Miura for decades

With regards to Pete Cowen, his accadamy and driving range is very near to where I live, the staff are absolutely fabulous, great craic,I use it about 3-4 times a week and Pete's a real down to earth guy, they serve a good pint as well.

Check my edit.

Those rumours, and the fact that they are unconfirmed, have done Miura no harm at all. The number of Major winners who used clubs made by him anyway assured his success. The McGregors were probably his too as Ollie think's he's a God! That was when he produced the PCB Tours. Several, if not all, of the TMs that Ernie and Goosen used to win Majors were Miuras as well. I was a bit of a Miura tart for a while!

Back OT...

Westwood does seem to be searching, and the move to US may have disrupted things more than expected.

A move back to Cowen wouldn't be a bad thing imo and there'd be no loss of face either.

Oh the rumours did wonders for Muira - understand his production shot through the roof when the Woods rumours were circling

A mate plays with them ( well tries ) £1500 for a set of irons ! Never pay that much

Like you say the clubs look fantastic, makes you wonder what is actually in the bag clubwise in the top players ..

nothing 'special'. Shafts are special and grinds and set up. A few players game prototype wood shapes though, a good example is the taylormade R1, the tour guys had a differnt head make up to what us joes could buy retail.

you could game a set exactly like luke donald from retail, but the set up configuration would differ

I wouldn't swap my 54's for a set muira's,no buttery feel,no being able to move the ball,no true ball flight, I'd just not be able to get in the zone..

So what you're saying is you like Mizuno's

I'm sorry guys,I know I've been a bit of an a**e this morning and this afternoon to be fair,so I must tell you the real reason for the diatribe that I've written on this forum, here it is,I have not had a game of golf this year, injury for 3 weeks, then the WEATHER for a month,I think its cabin fever, but when will it stop..

Well, Luke Donald hid the TM Driver under a Mizuno Headcover for quite a while. And there have been plenty of (other) disguises.

Plenty had used drivers but kept their main manufacturer head cover - think Kuchar also did with a Titleist driver but Bridgestone cover

But the label on the club doesn't lie often

Lee was/is a great ball striker. I just don't understand going the Foley road. He needed a good short game coach IMO.
