Westwood air shot

Up against a tree, too ambitious, too big a swing, clips the tree on the down swing, air shot.

I've done this, but I've not seen a pro do it til now.

Normally I'd say it serves him right for not taking his medicine but I'm trying to be more positive so I'm going to say unlucky Lee, sometimes it doesn't come off.

Its good to see him play attacking golf I think! tried to get his 4, rather than toying with a 5........Sometime stuff happens!

I prefer to see a pro take it on. Too many are ultra cautious with such big purses but I like people like Mickleson who spank it all over the place and then have the bottle to take on the recovery. Good to see Westwood has perfected the air shot. I have it in my armoury and will be bringing it to a course soon

The last air shot I hit, I left the club up the tree at the top of my back swing. 20 odd practice swings, fine, the real one, no, took it back, and it lodged in the vee of the branch. Swung back down, and it ripped it from my hands. Not even close to hitting it.

Gotta say it made me feel a bit better sitting in the clubhouse pint in hand after my round of 121 seeing westwood hit that shot.....

Not really an airshot in my book.... not a lot you can do when your club hits a tree trunk on the way down and bounces a foot off line.... a decent airshot is from the middle of the fairway, or from the rough..... or off a tee

Only seen one good one in recent years..... which reminds me, anyone heard from Smiffy lately? :mmm:
