This could be the beginning of the end for lots of well kent faces, if the investigation is carried out as we all would hope. The problem is, can we handle what is discovered, do we want to face up to what could be the direst thing this country has faced in peace time? There is potential for this to go deeply, badly dark and some of the things I've read about in relation to MPs/ministers and even PMs is so shocking I'd have laughed it off as crack pot stuff up until recently. Now, I'm thinking it could have grains of truth in it and The Elm Guest house is just the beginning.

Flush them out!!!

+1!

I have no problem with MPs having affairs etc as that's no different to what happens elsewhere in society. In France and maybe Italy, politicians are considered peculiar if they don't have affairs, but that's just the cultural (and tabloid) difference between the two countries. I still struggle to think of John Major and Edwina Currie 'at it' though!

But child abusers/paedophiles needs to be rooted out!

And if Blair did organise a D-Notice about anything like the allegations in that article, he should be made to specify what it was and justify it - effectively eliminating the D-Notice!

I think I will reserve judgement until a proper investigation is carried out. I know one of the people involved with making these current allegations and can remember a previous similar situation where various communities were accused of Child abuse through satanic groups. Peoples reputations and lives were scandalised but it later turned out to be completely untrue.

Anyone found guilty of pedophilia deserves the due punishment of the law. Maybe now is the time to let investigations take their course rather than speculation and finger pointing.

This will be the mother and father of political cover ups.

Several past deceased or retired figures from the past, with no connections to current prominent figures, will be scapegoated, but all the current parties know that they have significant exposure and that a frank report could be disastrous. so there won't be one. There will be loads of recommendations and ideas for Commissions, reports and other forms of papering over it all.

Couldn't agree more.

I would add that it should be kept in the public eye though, as some sort of assurance against any investigation being a complete whitewash.

Very dangerous to speculate without the facts being heard

Any judgement surely should wait until a full investigation has been complete and then what actions will happen
