Yes there were many allusions to this over the years. Often read that he thought he was Capt. Mainwaring.

Not exactly what I'd expected from the description but I'd second all of that, and add a comment regarding the music; there's some really apt and subtle choices in there, such as the Small Faces "Tin Soldier"……

Yes agree! Said same to HiD when we watched it earlier.
