Got a good week next week. Two days at the Cheltenham Festival, then two days at Wentworth followed by Twickenham for the England v Ireland game.

I am playing Wentworth with two old rugby pals who are both very much better than me. They are playing the West course without me as it is handicap 18 and below only. We are then playing the East and Edinburgh courses over two days.

Anybody got any tips for these Wentworth courses - other than don't cry too much when you lose another ball as the tears interfere with sight for the next shot? To be honest I am rather nervous at the prospect as I expect that, as a relative novice, I will most likely be an embarrassment.

Enjoy the experience. No need to feel embarrassed, but keep going at your mates' speed and if you have a mare on a hole just pick up and walk along with them to the next hole. No harm in dropping a ball and chipping to the green and putting out.

I always wondered why the West Course was 18 h/cap or less. I played it a few years ago and thought it was quite generous of the tee.

You're actually playing the 2 best courses there, the West has been ruined by all the recent changes. Nice couple of days out....enjoy!

I really enjoyed the Edinburgh, really nice holes and just the nices surroundings to play gol I think its known as the ladies members course and they use it for comps etcf. I felt the East was similar but a bit shorter and tigher than the West.
I ahvent played the West since the changes but that aside I would play the other 2 before the West, the West has 18 to try and stem the number of people playing...

Don't play either off the Whites, even if your pals do - and if they are single figure, both East and Edinburgh are serious challenges off Whites, so could be worhwhile them doing so.

Edinburgh can be a bit soggy at this time of year. East has the best greens - of all 3! East is mainly on heathland sand while the other 2 are more clay-ish (which is why the greens were eventually not suitable for tournaments).

There are 2 temporaries (2 and 12) on the West, though 12 may soon be back on normal.

Don't get overawed by the courses but do make use of the facilities as that will help you do what is most important - enjoy the experience!

I've only played the West Course but it was easier than I thought it would be. I wished that I have gone after the pins more as the greens were very receptive and the ball rarely run to the pins
