Ok, so my Wedges and a couple of other irons needed new Grips, so after looking on Gamola, I thought 'hmmmmmm, those leather ones look good, lets give em a try". £4 a pop, bargain, and they arrive 2 days later. Feel quite good, but difficult to fully tell till on the clubs.
Set to with the tools, and an hour and a smidge later, they're all done. All 13 !
Feel incredibly tacky, almost sticky, and took them out yesterday for a test.
Oh oh........things dont go well, cant get my hands comfy on the grip, needing to re-grip to adjust things, and all in all, start to have second thoughts.

Medal today, and altho I started well for the 1st 6holes, things went to rat [****] after that, and my Driving was quite frankly, crap, and due to never feeling at home on the grip, I'm blaming the grips firmly and squarely. They even leave a tacky black residue on my hands, which despite constantly wiping my hands on a wet towel, didnt want to shift.
:D

Looks like I'll be after a new set this week then.......and back to standard type me thinks.

ahh well at least you know now, albeit at a £50 expense :)

just looking at regripping all my clubs, curently got midsize lamkin on my irons but gonna go standard for all clubs

I got my clubs regripped recently and the pro who did them advised me to go for black grips as he said the coloured grips wear far quicker.

Dont know if this is true but I did go for the black grips.

Had to replace mine recently
Heard golf pride were good and sourced some on evil bay.

I got the multi compound grip and they are really, really good. Highly recommended.

The coloured rubber is softer so yes they do wear quicker than black....

I would agree with this. My last regrip was with blue lambkin crosslines and they seem to have worn down a lot quicker than the last black ones did.

I wouldn't get over excited what colour they are, its probably more important to change them regularly.

I changed mine because i heard grips should be changed every year. Mines felt and looked ok (3years old) but changed them anyway. I could not believe the difference.

I guess if you see signs of wear, they should have been changed ages ago.

About the black stuff, when my clubs where brand-new the grips gave off a little of the black stuff.

I'm a little confused in relation to getting new grips.

Had my loft and lie adjusted, the club-builder said when I get new grips to go for a .58 grip, as they are ever so slightly thicker than what I currently have(.60)

Now the issue I have is that I cant seem to find grips that are numbered in this fashion. Can anybody shed any light on this for me.

Cheers
