Evening all

played in my first comp in nearly a year today.... my official handicap is 21 but have recently been shooting anything from +13 to +20... so form was good, wasnt a qualifier so just go an play.

Did I break 90? Nope.
Did I break 100? Nope.
105? Nope.
110? Nope.

I shot 114..... yep, 114. Lol. .... I have NEVER shot anything like that in probably 16-17 years (since I learnt how to play).

On the plus side, my playing partner (off 24) shot a gross 92 (+21) and won it....... so first comp for him as a member and he wins. Damn bandits!

Oh well, entered next weeks comp.... things can only get better right?

We all have comps like that, I shot a staggering 22 points last week in our winter Stableford,I can't remember having 7 no scores before!! it can only get better :D

I'd take 114 right now, dropped out of the KoK today as due to swing changes I knew I would just be a burden on my group lol.

Just forget about the score and chalk it down as a very off day

The cricket season started early then, 114 , that's a good score on a slow wicket and outfield :D Well at least you posted the card and not NR like many do , things can only get better , chin up and march on ....................EYG

I actually quite admire that.

I've tried several times to shoot more than 100, and I always suffer a concentration lapse somewhere along the way, and the odd par or birdie creeps in. My best attempt has been 98, and I was sweating it a bit towards the end, when I parred the 17th. Fair play to you for keeping it going. Not easily done.

The only way is up. I had some shockers last season but it just makes me come back and fight harder. Do you think you were trying too hard?

to be fair I was very nervous over the first 2-3 holes and when I was talking to the guys after the round (bearing in mind I'd never played with the before) they commented on how fast my back swing was.... which is very much not me, so yeah I was trying too hard.

I was 5 off the tee TWICE!

only highlight of the day was clearing the ditch on 17... which was a 255 yard carry. Only bad point was that I thought it had gone in the ditch, couldnt find it so dropped for a penalty.... only to walk past the ball another 50 yards down the fairway! Yep a 300+ drive!

Thanks for the ribbing/support chaps.... I could only laugh at myself today. I was hilarious!

Oh well it's good that you played in today's comp and got round and held yourself together. Even better that you're jumping back on the horse next week. The more you play the more your official handicap will look like your unofficial one. Good luck for next week.

We had our first "full" 18 holes stableford yesterday. Off yellows with 6th playing short due to wet.

I started off pretty well and even though I blobbed two par fives on the front I finished with 16 on the front, then started the back 9 well but fizzled out and finished with 27.

I didn't mind as it wasn't a qualifier, so was just happy to be out and hitting fairly well. Just need to fix my flat stick woes..
