Well that was a tough game!

Yesterday I was on the putting green waiting to go out with the Friday swindle and got a sudden call to play in a club match for someone who hadn't turned up. It was 4bbb format and I teamed up with a 24 handicapper who really struggled on the day - our opponents, a 9 handicapper and a scratch golfer who won the British Amateur Senior Championship a few years back. He was 67 and it was a joy to watch the way that he plotted his way round. He bogied a couple of holes but had 4 birdies also in a match they comfortably won. I did manage to biff a couple past him off the tee but just loved to see someone nearly 70 compile a great round.

Do you like playing with players so much better than you?

Hasn't really happened yet.

I did play with an 84 year old the other day and he was amazing for his age.
Still 180-200 off the tee and picked up straight away if he couldn't score,something a few at mine could learn from.

I have a new regular nine hole partner who is 85. I give him a shot on the long holes, not on the par 3's. Still to beat the little beggar.

We haven't got any old boys that low but a few off mid-handicaps that are your worse nightmare to play against. Still reasonably long, deadly straight and perfect around the green. It was a shame your PP didn't have a good day but glad you enjoyed seeing a good round constructed. Did the team win?

I think our club may have lost the match but I only stayed long enough to buy my opponents a drink as I was dragged into the team at the last second and had to get home to go to the theatre with HID
