Over here in NI, the weather was excellent maybe 20 degrees with clear skies and a reasonable wind, maybe 10-15mph. Scored a 78 for the second week in a row (last week got nothing so not expecting anything this week) The only main differences this week was I had a double bogey but also had a 2 at our 190yd par3 7th and a birdie at the 16th par 5.
So Im going to get at least a few quid in my acccount for the two.
Anyone do better and win something or have a total nightmare?
This could become a weekly thing kind of like a councilling service for us! :)

I played a friend who plays off 11 today. I lost 7&6 but played to my handicap.

The chap I played was 1 over after 9 and I had to birdie 4 and 8 (which I did) for a half.

I'm not disheartened I lost, I played well but he finished on 5 over. Well under his handicap.

Another 78 again today (we have a society within the club over oct-feb called the polar bears) including a wrong ball..bugger. It was exactly where i saw mine end up too, was a pro v1 the same as mine but slightly different mark on it!. but still happy I managed another cosistant result. This leccy trolley maybe is saving me a couple of shots after all.
so my last 3 rounds have been 78 (38 points) and same cores front and back nine too, happy to see a little consistency now.

Yay - get those dinner tickets -
Do you get a prize or a trophy?
MOH has loads of trophies I have to dust all the time (actually I don't bother). I keep suggesting they have prizes like pro shop voucher or whatever - or do you crave that silverware on your mantle piece???
(We are in doubles semi on thursday - my putting is pants - think of me!)

After last weeks 38pts i went backwards today, only scored 27 pts but have an excuse-an recent back injury flared up on the 19th and i struggled to complete my backswing.

Next week is another day and a chance to redeem myself.

Not in a comp, just a quick 14 with a mate from work. 8 over without the (bent) 3 wood, so I look forward having a full set of clubs!!!

7 over my generous 14 handicap, purely down to the consistency with which I strike the ball!

5 iron to within 8 feet on our 200 yard par 3 9th and a 220 yard rescue club which rolled past the flag on our 18th, from the rough amongst other very good shots.

On the other hand, I chipped into 3 bunkers from within 10 yards of the green each time, missed some putts my dog could have nudged into the hole and lost a ball with a stupid hook off the first tee. Also spun the ball back off 2 greens to leave me chipping instead of putting (why do you only get spin when you don’t want it??)

Somehow still managed to win a pint off my mates though.

Played my annual challenge match against my dad. He has the experience whilst I have age on my side. Have never beaten him before (he has been playing for about 30 years longer than me) and lost on the last having been 2 up with 3 to play. Still, best performance yet against him so maybe next year could be the year to win

Much as thebelgie, I played a bounce game on friday, dire!
The only thing working on the front nine was the putting and even that fell apart on the back. Saturday back to the range!

Played in a Captain v vice team thing, better ball matchplay. Shot net 4 under, but still got beat 2 and 1. Couldn't get the ball in the hole on the back nine. Mind you the greens have been drilled and filled, so not the best surface to putt on.

Chuffing awful.

Drove quite well and long irons worked really well. However 70-80yds and in was some of the worst golf I have ever played. I even managed to shank it out of the bunker - how does that work?

Back to the pitching practice area for me!

Only saving grace was on the 18th where I stiffed my approach from about 90yds almost spinning it back into the hole, and managed to make the putt (literally only 6 inches), but the way I putted on Saturday even that wasn't a gimme.

Roll on next weekend I love this game!!!!

Played well on Saturday, ended up 2 under handicap despite a triple bogey on the 17th, a par would have seen me win the Captain's Prize.

Stableford playoff yesterday was a bit of a non event, the two of us playing in it were out on Saturday night and took in a little too much happy juice. Where I started brightly and fell away my mate had a sluggish start and pipped me, the winning score - an embarrassing 24pts!!!

I saw the debate last week re Birdieman and drinking the night before golf......for me, never getting in that state again when there's a trophy at stake.

I can't putt. well i couldn't on saturday, missed about 6 2footers! didnt hole a put outside 2 feet. the rest of my game was ok, chipping and pitching good. finished with 34 pts. Oh i did get a two though only because i put a 6 iron to a foot then somehow managed to hole the putt!

Thankfully i had a putting lesson on monday night. everything sorted now, best tenner i ever spent.

Bad day at the office today, I just couldnt buy a putt and my driving was poor until I switched to my Nike 4 wood around the 6th hole which worked great but by then most of the damage was done, had only one birdie but didnt break 80 and am raring to go tomorrow in our Polar Bears competition.

Haha no dave, Its the name of our clubs winter society within the club, almost a second competition within the actual club competitions. The women are called the penguins which is ironic as most of them walk like said animals on course.

After last weeks debarcle, I had a great round this week, (albeit with a very shaky double bogey to start with), thanks to a stupid top with my usually trusty 5 iron.

However from there on in everything worked really well, no birdies unfortunately but a hatful of pars finishing with a nice 41 points (first time I've scored more than 40 this year).

Beginning to play just about on my 12 handicap consistently now (apart from last weeks short game horror show), and am looking forward to consolidating through the winter.

Friendly knock on Sunday with a couple of mates, returning a score of 80 (par 72), so left the course a very happy man.

I ask myself will next week be the same, or will those seeds of doubt resurface.

Can't wait!
