Due to recent high pollution levels you can only drive in Paris today if you have an odd numbered registration... Tomorrow its the turn of the even numbers... How long before this becomes an EU edict?

see London congestion charge. ultimately it does the same thing, lowers the number of cars on the roads in the city centre. I am surprised the french have taken it so well, they love a good strike or protest about stuff they get told they can or cant do!

Can't see London authorities offering the Free Public Transport and Parking that Paris have.

Edinburgh - clearly anti-car - hikes Parking fees as a method of dissuading commuter Car use.

Athens has been doing this for 20 years

Uk is thinking of 60mph speed limit on M1 through Sheffield area........

In truth I am in favour of encouraging more out of their vehicles and onto public transport... I walk beside the A40 from Park Royal station to my place of work a quick look confirms the vast majority of vehicles have one occupant...

totally in favour of using good, regular, efficient, cost effective, clean pleasant to use public transport.

When they do that I'll be first to leave the car at home;)

Not sure if there's any 'thinking' as I thought it was happening. Which is good as I look forwards to driving with a Polish lorry up my chuff knowing that I have the choice of either breaking the speed limit or dying horribly in a car crush if someone breaks relatively suddenly in front of me.

I do get genuinely scared in the 50 mph zones and feel much safer doing 70 plus, but at least knowing I can control to a certain extent how close people drive to me.
