It's good, but could have been better. He was 4th going in to the last round, and shot 1 over versus a round of 8 under that Matt Jones shot to come 5th. Personally I hope Luke has a great year - I was urging him on last night.

I guess it is early days after his lay-off and so 7th ain't too bad.
It actually moved him up 5 places in the World rankings so that can't be too shabby.
I wish him well for this year too. It would be great to see him win once or twice in 09.

It seemed to be a battling performance, if you look at his rounds on "shot tracker" on the pga website you can see there was a fare bit of scrambling.
He also lost ground on his third round with five birdies but chucked them away with three bogey's otherwise he would of been a lot closer in the final round

Great to see him doing well anyway

Yes, good to see him do well. I still think he is the one most likely to win a Major out of our current crop of leading golfers. Great swing tempo and quite a sharp short game. A bit more length off the tee and he'd be in a better position to mount a better challenge.

I was at a wedding last July near Edinburgh whereupon whilst leaning on the bar I met a fellow who claimed to be best pals with Luke and Christian Donald.
We had a chat about golf as you do but then he took a bit of an epi when I suggested that Luke needed to be longer off the tee to compete better. His take was that Luke hit it as far as all the other pros and that this short-hitter tag was a myth!
At that point I grabbed my scotch and made my exit away from this seething Englishman.
Was he correct?

Glad to see him do well he has a lovely swing and is seemingly very humble off of the course. It was a shame he injured his wrist so hopefully he can continue this speedy recovery and cement himself as a regular in the top 10 on the pga tour.

It must just be me but Donald is one of those golfers who really frustrates me along with Rose and Nick Dougherty. Loads of talent but they somehow seem to lack that extra drive or desire. Great player don't get me wrong but one you always feel like telling to try harder on the course.

I happen to think if he is finally injury free though he could have a good season as he really has been hamepred in the last year or so.

Of all the Brit players I try to follow, Luke was always top of the list. However since his wrist injury, other Brits have really made some progress. We must have 5 or so really good players that could win a major, but they all seem to lack that something, that would really makes the difference.

Are we destined for the next couple of years to a 'Tim Henman' type era in pro golf? ie. quite good, but not good enough.

ps. I know he'll thrash me, etc. Just my opinion, and before anyone says it, yes, opinions are like .......
