Looking for opinions/advice!

I'm cac-fisted / corrie fisted, however we describe it!

I've just bought an R7 CGB Max, and i know to set it up with heel weight will help slices, but do you think that'd be the same when you hold the club differently?

I just feel i come across the ball in a very different direction.

Any help?

Ta. :)

I wouldn't have thought gripping cack-handed would come into this, if you slice weight the heel, if you hook weight the toe, end of.

If you're really not convinced get down the range with wrench at the ready and play about with the weighting.

I had a TM R7425 TP for a while and I didn't notice much difference where I put the weights, I always move the ball right to left.
I think the whole MWT thing is a bit gimmicky to he honest. :D

I haven't tried any of these movable weighted clubs as I think they add to the problem. If you slice/hook regularly it is a basic swing flaw problem and moving weights to compensate is only masking the issue. I'd rather save my money and book some lessons and sort the swing issues

Thanks very much guys, see this is the bit i don't get, i use just regular steel wilson fat shaft irons, and don't have a problem hitting straight at all, from 3 to SW, only really on the woods.

Obvious answer is don't hit woods, but it can feel like a long day sometimes doing that!

I think the lessons is defintiely the way to go.

hi mike

do you use the same swing tempo for the woods and the irons,
mine were quite different but i found when I got the swing tempo of my woods and irons the same a lot of the faults I had with the woods went away, mainly lack of distance and tendency to slice

deffinitely have a lesson

Hello All,

Im a long time lurker, first time poster. Thought id choose this one as my first topic to post on.

Currently playing off of 18 (well 17.8). Only joined a club for the first time this year.

I played since I was 12 cack handed, played hurling and it seemed like the natural progression. Played for years and years like this but never made the change. Never joined a club but got quite good, best ever score was 81,parred all ten of the first ten holes, then fell apart on the back 9 to limp home for an 81. Played less and less when i moved with work, up to the point where my car was broken into last january and my clubs were robbed.

It was the spark i needed and i decided to take the game seriously. Bought a wilson starter set (ultra comp, great set of clubs i must say) and started practicing. first round of golf i hit 117 shots, at least 20 outside what i was shooting cack handed, and that was in late may. joined a club in mid june, and was given a handicap of 18. never played near it for months but recently all of the practice has paid off. played to my handicap for the first time (team event in druids heath, had 39 points, but as team event no cut!!!we came second BTW).

I strongly strongly recommend you to just get rid of the cack handed grip, you cant understand how pointless it is playing like that. Every little tweak and change is pointless, as every club isnt designed for you. i used to be the same as you, very good irons player, with a crazy slice on my woods.

Now i still struggle with my driving, but its controllable, i know what im doing and what im doing wrong. I have even better irons than before i changed,(as a guess my 9 iron carries at least 145 yards). I still putt poorly but its coming along.

Sorry for rambling but i just wanted to make the point to any cack hander, the change is scary and it seems impossible and unneeded, but seriously change it. Im still off 18, but next years target is 14 and the year after 11. Every round i play i feel like ive improved.

Okay story over, im looking forward to a plenty more posts on here :)
