weighted clubs

What exactly do you mean? a shaft with a weight on it for training?

Momentus is awful to swing, you're much better with a speedstik imo, they are better for muscle conditioning, get the red version as it's heavier.
The only plus of the Momentus is it has a moulded grip so you can get your grip right (if that's a problem area) but only if you use a Vardon grip. If like me you interlock then those moulded grips don't fit right.
Speedstik is ok by me but don't bust a gut trying to beat your record speed! :o

Depends on what you want it for.
If you want to increase swingspeed you are better off getting an overspeed club, something lighter than a golf club, an old graphite shaft with a grip is ideal.
Heavy clubs help strengthen the muscles that control the swing and help improve flexibility, but you need to swing slowly and smoothly to get the benefit. Not difficult to hurt yourself with a heavy club by straining a muscle or joint.
Ideally you could use both, swing the heavy club slowly and fully and then a few fast swings with the light club.
Ben Hogan used to practice with lead tape under the grip so that the club was heaviest there, if the weight is at the head of the club it will encourage casting and losing energy.

I've found that if I try to swing something light (like an old shaft) my arms come through much too quickly because there's no resistance to me pulling the shaft through.

Does that highlight a fault?

I have a speedstik, trouble is the blasted thing is SO long you have to swing it uber-flat. Might help develop speed, but not so good for other things I reckon.

i.m.o. a weighted club has got to be good, however, you could wrap a towel around your driver just as easily.

Would need to see your swing to see if its evident when you're hitting shots. Swinging something light gets the body used to moving faster and with time you will increase swing speed. Heavy clubs tend to slow your swing regardless what the advertisers claim. Heavy clubs do have their place in helping develop the muscles to control your swing and increase your flexibilty.
