Hi all,

Has anyone else used a weighted club, or one of those weighted sleeves you can put over your own club? I must admit, I'm not 100% sure what exactly they're meant to do, but I know my swing can get a bit "snatchy" sometimes and I rush it, plus I hook and slice without warning, so my plane must be all over the place...these weighted systems help slow you down a bit and drill a smoother more even tempo into your swing.

So I got one, (from haplesshacker - thanks Graham), and tried it out at the range for the first time yesterday. Now, I've swung a weighted club before, but never hit with one. First thing I noticed was my shots not going very far, but the ball trajactory was better. The balls were climbing more steeply and were obviously spinning more. I figured I was coming down on the ball rather than my usual thing of picking it off the mat or hitting it with a slightly upward-travelling clubhead. Hit 10 or 12 with the 7I weighted, then took the weight off. Weird, the first swing without the weight felt like I was swinging a shaft with no head on it. Felt very fast and a bit out of control, but concentrated on the tempo and my shots were going much straighter and better than normal, still with that nice trajectory. Not necessarily further though.

Biggest change was with the driver. If I hit 20 in a row at the range, chances are that maybe 2 or 3 will go straight, with maybe only one being my ideal shot. After weighting the driver for a dozen practice shots I was hitting more like 50% well. I'm chuffed if I hit a single drive to the 230-yard green at the range, (which is the one I aim for), but yesterday I put three in a row right onto the green, all within at least 7 or 8 yards of each other. Oe time I carried right over the top of it.

So if anyone's a similar mid-to high handicapper like me, whose swing can get a bit fast and out of control, and who tends to spray balls left and right more than straight, I think I can recommend trying one of these weight things.

Firstly. Thanks Tim for the review. It was one of the first products I tried and would agree with what you have said. Though for me it did add distance as well. I'm guessing because it just promoted a smoother swing and consequently my timing and swing.

As with all this stuff. And I'm sure that you're not one of these. Don't be led into thinking 'well that's cured' and never use it again. Which I must admit that I've fallen into the trap of doing occasionally. Almost certainly to my cost!

Really pleased to hear it's helping you out. After all. I get more satisfaction from hearing how customers get on with the training aids, than I do from selling them in the first place. It must be the old instructor in me.

Would you be able to leave a review on the product page of the website for me please.

Many thanks.

Though for me it did add distance as well.

I think there are a couple of reasons why I didn't see particularly distance improvements.

1) With my 7I, which I used with the weight the most, the trajectory was that much higher with more backspin, so the ball was perhaps going the same distance as my old "sine wave" shaped shots, but stopping much more quickly too, which is good.

2) With the driver I was consistently hitting the sort of distance I occasionally hit (with a fluke great shot), which again is a massive improvement.

3) I was hitting into a headwind for a change.

Anyway, I'll definitely write a review up on the website. :)
