Wedges

I'm actually going the other way and trying to source a g25 sw to go with the rest of my gear. Hitting my irons pretty well at the moment but the wedges have gone well off. Big chunky irons and blade like wedges recipe for disaster at the moment! I know it's the archer but looking for a bit more forgiveness and consistency at the minute.

One thing I noticed is that when I chipped from near the green with the PW wedge from my (cavity back) MX25s the ball sometimes seemed to jump off the face a bit hot. Didn't get that when chipping with a bladed gap wedge, so I felt I had a bit more control with that.

FD, there is 10 degrees between your PW and SW. [45/55]
You could get a matching Gap wedge (50) to fill the gap.
Other than that, I wouldn't bother.

I think it is worth getting fitted for specialist wedges, but only if you are comfortable with manufacturing shots. The wedges I have now are the first time I have been fitted with any and it has improved my short game saving me a couple of ***** a round. I have a steep angle of attack so having a good amount of bounce has really helped me.

I bought 52 and 56 degree Vokeys, guess at the time I didn't really need them but bought into the hype that I needed them. For the first year I rarely used them, however over the last couple of months I have been using them a lot more, especially the 56 degree one.
I find that I have a lot more distance control within 60 yards, and so have a lot more chance of getting up and down, which is something I need now that my handicap is getting lower

I do have a gap wedge as well, Bob. (Matching the rest of the irons too). However, I've found I only tend to use it for full or 3/4 shots from a certain distance. Chipping around the green is always either PW or SW depending on the type of shot.

Sorted then.
Spend the dosh on gloves or new grips.
