A big thing for me is the short game, and i feel that it comes down to confidence in your wedges,

If you are in the market or if you were in the market what would you choose that is out there now?

Also, upgraded shafts and custom fit? Necessary for wedges?

Cheers!

You first ;)

Just bought some Cleveland 588 RTX satin wedges late last year, 52 56 58. Nothing wrong with them but I will be selling them, I've looked at the Scor wedges which look very good, but have opted to get custom fit n grind ones from by Iain Clarke ICY Wedges.

Had the opportunity to get good outdoor demos with vokey sm5, cleveland rtx and callaway mack daddy last week. Was able to take full swings off grass on the range and play lots if greenside and bunker shots.

Ended up buying clevelands in different lofts and different shafts than was previously using. There was an element if custom fit but mostly went by what felt good.

Would also be keen on custom ICYs if a scottish session happens!

I didn't think anyone would ask! Ok well i have always been a vokey golfer, due to their good custom options bounces etc, but after a year stint of not playing everyone looks good! My bag has usually donned 52 56 60deg wedges. And I will probably sell the SM4 wedges when i choose the new ones!

Was recently in the market and got a set of MD wedges because cost was a priority but I still wanted quality. Really like them and the 52 was definitely a good choice for my gaps.

I am very much out with the old in with the new this time around when it comes to golf, I am getting a custom fit for my new irons so would like to get custom fit for wedges too, as my wedges are completely standard.

I recently demo'd the Cleveland 588 RTX satin chrome and the Vokey SM5.

Was looking for consistent distances to complement the PW I have in my bag already (115yds).

Spent a couple of hours hitting full and partial swings on the grass range, and really liked the Clevelands. Ordered the 48degree from GBIO during their recent flash sale, and have now got the 52 and 56 degree on order from my local pro.

They give me the right distances and just felt more solid (to me) than the Vokeys.

Sorry a bit of background to my club choices, I will be testing these out on my local range, on the course for the next month before I make a decision! I know the feel of vokey wedges, as I stated earlier, so discussing the finishes would be a better bet for an online forum where everyones games are obviously different!

Sounds like your minds made up, apart from the colour.

I have now had two rounds with 3 brand new Mizuno MP-T4's and cannot fault them. Makes the ball stop quick without too much back spin. Got them with KBS Hi-Rev shafts but not sure if that really makes a difference to how much spin is produced. The feel is good and they have a classic wedge shape.

I have been thinking about replacing my SM4s with these or the 588 Forged. I already have a 588 that I have been using for the last couple of weeks and I really like it so I would say these are in pole position but the Mizzies are very tempting.

I only bought some 588 RTX last year, they are about 9 months old now, but after reading the reviews and positive comments from those who have bought ICY wedges, I'm tempted to replace one of my 588's with an ICY. It's the custom fit option and personal service that has got my attention.

I'm facing similar debate, got a session with pro next week - think comes down to Vokey or cleveland, recent trade-in offer on cleveland may tip it provided performance similar (guess vokey don't both with similar offers due to strength of brand / demand anyway or am i wrong?).
