As they are the main scoring clubs from 120yds and in, and I'm a poor wedge player (I'm confident with pretty much every club except wedges:( )

For the last 25 years I've had vokey or mizuno wedges with no real confidence, so.............

I'm looking for any tried and tested recommendations from anyone who's had similar experiences and now has a wedge set they are very confident with?

For 120 and in I have 4 clubs (my 9 iron is usually around 130 ish in summer conditions, with an easy swing)

PW is 115 ish
50 is a little over 100
56 is 75 ish
60 can go 45, but hardly used for longer shots but I usually wouldn't bother unless was absolutely necessary.

I use Cleveland forged 588 and like them, as I can open the face to take a little off the yardages for softer yardages, alternatively grip down for reducing distance too.

My wedge game is usually my strongest game.

Bridgestone j40. I have tried/used all the main brands and this stands out a long way. Got a 52 and 58 combo. Fantastic spinner shafts as well.

Mizuno wedges... didn't like my Vokey but my biggest problem was pulling my wedges so I started curtailing my follow through and ending my wedge swing by actually pointing the club at the target. The results were fantastic, same distance and more or less on target, no big pull... Probably won't work for you :) but does for me!

I was considering a test fitting of one of the spinner shafts to get some idea of how they performed. Have you done a side by side comparison of spinner and normal shaft?

Surely if your accurate with other clubs it must be a confidence issue. Go down to a range and try a load out, see what feels right. If I didn't use vokey's I'd have Cleveland.

Just recently replaced my Cleveland CG15s, fantastic wedges

I just fancied a change so picked up some callaway forged wedges, still to try them out so can't really comment in them but they do look awesome in copper

Well Sir - you have to get to grips with the '7-wedge'. An invaluable risk reduction club. As Tommy Armour said in his book 'How to Play Your Best Golf All The Time' when deciding what shot to play...

Play the shot you've got the greatest chance of playing well

So for me for many shots of under 120yds where I don't have to clear such as a bunker, the wedges stay in the bag. A bump and run will almost always get me there or thereabouts.

Perhaps a lesson for the short irons/wedges to build confidence.

I used Adams wedges for 2 years and they were superb, only just changed to Vokeys simply because I got the lot for free!

What about trying the cobra trusty rusty wedges, they do a BIG version to help inspire confidence behind the ball

already quite comfortable with that shot, wedge and SI/gap wedge can be thinned or fatted more often than not, probably just my swing but its about confidence, so a confidence boosting wedge might help

wedge play (along with putting) is the weakest part of my game

i reluctantly bought an MD chipper a few weeks ago, and have to stay its staying in the bag, probably saving me 2-3 shots a round.

but i'm a 14 handicapper, it might be slightly different if i was off 5 like you, i find the chipper overall is better for scoring but i'm less likely to hit shots very close with it

My short game always been my strong point and have tried majority of brands. Currently using Wilson FG Tour wedges 52 snd 56 and rate them with the best I have used for spin and control. Better than Vokey and I rate them as good as if not better than a CG16 I was using.

Bt - yeah did have a go with a j40 with standard dg in it alongside the spinner version, pro at the shop had made one up to demonstrate the difference. The dg in the j40 was good but the spinner is something else, it flies flatter but with a hell of a lot of fizz. It is designed to bounce twice and stop which is exactly what it does. Flawless clubs.
Cobra trusty rusty = eeurgh, really wanted these to be good as all my other stuff is cobra but sadly they are not for me with the leading edge sitting too far up regardless of what you do with the tri bounce sole.
Seriously, go and find a j40 and give it a go - best wedges I have ever used.
