Guys, do you replace the wedges you get with your iron set with alternatives ?

With my G10's I've got a PW which is a 46.10 and an SW which is 54.12.

I also have a Vokey at 58.08.

So do you guys replace PW's and SW's ?

I guess it depends on what the wedges in your iron set are like. I'd not thought about it, though I had got a 52 and 60 specialist wedges, I'd not considered replacing the PW or SW. Until I had the MD 56. The set SW felt awful in comparison. So that's now been replaced by the MD.

I know next time to try the wedges in the set of irons before buying, and save some money not having clubs that I don't want.

Horses for courses though.

Not if you like them and can use them, I carry a vokey 52 and 60 at the moment, I have a vokey 48 but thats not in the bag as I really like the mp32 PW. Its all down to choice but there is no reason to do it just for the sake of it and don't take this the wrong way but will not make a lot of diffence for a 20+ handicapper.

People do it to gain a consistancy with the scoring clubs, so they can change thier irons but always have the same or similar wedges.

I think the SW in most standard sets always looks chunky and uninviting so I try and buy 4-PW only and then use my TM wedges to fill the gaps. I have a 52, 56, 58 and 60 and will generally go with the 52 and 58. However if I'm playing a course with deep rough or deep/pot bunkers I'll lose the 5W or 3H and add the 56 and 60

My AP2's never came with a sw, I use the standard pw but have a Vokey 56 and an MD 58 for now though that will change soon to a 54 and a 58.

i replaced my SW from my set with a 56, and i found much better, but i like my PW so i wouldn't change that

im PW 52 and a 58...only replace them if you dont like them. Back in the day when I had cavity backs the SW was awfully chunkys, and I never really felt comfortable playing shots from tight lies or from the sand with it! thats when I got my first wedge....my big brothers grooveless cleveland!!!

I think I'm going to swap my SW for another Vokey. The G10 is a bit on the chunky side and I do hit my 58 vokey pretty well.

Anyone know if there is much difference between the 08 and 09 model Vokeys ? My 58.08 is an 08 model and I've seen the 08's going for about £50, where the 09's are about £70 I think.
