Wedge set up question. What lofts do you use?

The loft of my new irons are a tad stronger than my previous ones and means I need to bridge some gaps.

My previous set up was PW@47, 51, SW55 and a 60

I'm thinking about going with 4 wedges - PW plus 3 others.

My current PW is 44 so the 51 and 60 lofts are too far apart. Also going to ditch the 60 and go with something like a 56/58.

Would my PW@44 along with a 48, 52, and 56 be a suitable mix or would you recommend something higher than a 56?

What are your lofts in wedges?

As many people have mentioned before, lofts are not important. What is important is how far you hit the clubs and then finding a club that fill this gap. i filled a gap between my 45* PW and 55* SW with a 48* wedge as it was a differnet spec and make.

Don't get hung up on lofts, they can be misleading

Yeah I was in AG looking for a replacement for my PW last night. They guy said just buy a 48 and get it bent. I was like. hmmm ok lol

I'm in the same boat, looking for some more wedges, I only have a PW at 44° and a SW at 56°. Wanting to keep with the Mack Daddy wedges like my SW, I'm looking to get a matching 52°.

Is a 44° to 52° too big a gap?

A full swing PW for me is about 100yrds and a full swing of my SW is around 50yrds. So I'm looking for something to be used on shots between 50-80yrds, hoping a 52° will be it for between a full and ¾ swing.

Just a thought - Have you still got your old irons? If so, and if you liked your previous PW, would the bold above not be the simple, cheapest solution to stick in the bag for a trial run?

Not sure about a 58* for bunkers, possibly too high, I dunno?

Like the gaps in that but my old clubs were bought off the shelf and stiff shafts and new clubs were fitted with regular so want to keep the shafts the same type.

My PW is a 44.....I've then got three wedges, 48, 52 and 58. My gapping is exactly what I want (full shots)

PW 125 yds
48 115 yds
52 100-105 yds
58 90 yds

58 is fine out of a bunker. Just open it up.

I now carry 3, my pw is 47 and I have a 52 and a 58 I find I can cover my range comfortably and don't have to think too much about shot selection, in side 90 yards I pull my 58 for pretty much everything.

Similar problem as I had, I added the AW from the set purely for full shots, my other 2 wedges I added not based on distance but what they needed to do, so my sw has loads of bounce for bunker shots, I added a LW in for up and down when I shortside myself. I asked myself how often do I hit a full on SW or LW, the answer was not very often.

Pw is 47, then 52/58, but in all fairness I could drop the 58 for the amount I use it

The higher you hit it, in my opinion, the more inaccuracy you introduce. I use the 46° most of the time from 100 yards in, sometimes the 50, but I would never hit the 58° unless I had an obstacle to negotiate. There is no need for more than three wedges in my bag. The greatest short game coach nobody has heard of, Stan Utley, thinks the same & says so in his great little book "The Art of the Short Game"

PW is 45° and I also have 50/54/58.
Getting a club bent is OK in theory but don't forget that the bounce will be altered by the same amount.
This may or may not make a difference but is worth bearing in mind.

Been thinking of changing them soon, the face of the 56 has gotten quite worn compared to the 52 and I fancy some Mizuno wedges instead now.

45° PW and have 50° and 55° wedges. Keeps the gaps even and my distances pretty much equally gapped.
Irons have NS1150R shafts, wedges NS950S. Work great.

Hey there my set up is PW - 45 GW - 51 SW -56 LW -60

If your going for 4 wedges its gotta be something like 45 50 55 60 or around that

It's just what Trackman reported. I was getting between 5400 and 8200 rpm spin with a 45degree landing angle so as an average it's probably about right.

usually have a standard 50/54/58.....occasionally slip in a 60 for the 58 if playing course with small greens but my main reason for carrying 4 is the extra full shot distance options between 80 and 125 yards.

I'm a five wedge man which I know is incredibly gay. 48, 52, 56, 60 and 64. I have to decide at most courses whether to go 5-iron or the 60 degree lob wedge. Decisions, decisions.
