My Vokey SW has lost its grooves, so was looking at options. I have loved my Vokeys. Here is something that I heard on the grapevine (be ur own judge)

1) blade changing: new mfgs like Cobra change blades used in milling wedges after 8 wedges; Cleveland at 10; Vokey around 16.... So a quarter of Vokeys are made with blunt blades and hence the wear outs

2) design similarities.. Cleveland and Vokey are fairly similar as Bob Vokey was involved in both. Apparently Vokey's #2 was hired by Cobra and now has a very similar design. I looked down a Cobra SW and must say that I could mistake it for my Vokey!!

So nothing much to choose from Cobra, Cleveland and Vokey in the tech and aesthetic dept. I am not a big Cobra fan. Was looking at the Cleveland due to trade ins. But have decided to regroove my Vokey instead. Hopefully it will be a tenner well spent.

Re groove that with 1 of those eBay grooving tools?

I remain to be unconvinced by these, with the hooves being so close to limits at intial manufacture how can you cut new grooves deeper in the face without skimming the face?

Maybe Bob Vokey should buy a groove sharpener if all his milling blades are blunt. Better still, hire an 18 handicapper to teach him how to suck eggs while he's about it...
